FunnyGas' finally got another Skyline project...

So... I came into a Skyline that will serve as the chassis for my project. I figured instead of buying a car worth way too much money... I would build a car worth way too much money.
I have about a year to year and a half before the build begins to plan it out... collect parts... get ready for the build (deal is the half-wife gets a rock before I touch my car )
My goal in a nut shell..
    450hp (approx)
    R34 front conversion

So I will be discussing how I will build the car in here... I dont want to just swap an RB25 or RB26.. add a few bolt-ons and be done.. I want to build something cool.. Unless what I am proposing is not possible, no nay sayers.. Dont agree with how I want to build? Look at someone elses thread... I have been browsing the forums and trying to learn as much as I can, but I am still learning and dont feel as though I know enough... So any suggestions, experiences, or any help is greatly appreciated.
Here she the day I got her... and how she will be as she serves as my DD until the build.
Just one step on my way to Eleventy Billion horsepower.

    Reserved for engine build plan...
What I am looking at doing is an RB24DETT.. I have wanted to do this since my last Skyline 2 years ago. I have been browsing some aussie forums and the consensus thus far is rather than the RB26 crank and rods in the RB20 block... to go with RB20 crank in an RB25 block, and an RB26 head. My goal is a reliable 450hp, very free revving... and really quick response... Im thinking to stick with the RB26 ITBs and twin turbo setup, maybe going with a set of N1 turbos? For this setup what would you guys reccomend for parts and more definitive details?

    Interesting project.

It's because when you bore the RB20DET block out, it weakens the block. The result is they can crack. Also have to cut a bit of metal out of the bottom of cylinders, so the stock RB26 conrods clear, etc.

I was curious about the response of the RB24DET, as RB20DET with the same stroke has freaky throttle response when running properly.

From my own reasearch into RB24DET engine, it's easier / cheaper to start with a RB26 N1 block + stock RB26 head and stock RB26 intake, exhaust manifolds.

Then change the crank to RB20DET + fit Jun crank collar, H beam RB20DET conrods, custom pistons, ACL bearings, ARP studs, Tomei intake, exhaust gaskets, headgasket.

Then for 460hp all the time at around 1 bar -

Tomei 260 duration cams (increases response, torque, power)
    N1 turbo's
    Z32 MAF x 2
    600cc injectors
    Fuelpump
    Stock GTR ECU retune (Nistune)

    Drivetrain -

    RB25DET or GTR gearbox
    Nismo Twin plate clutch
    Custom or stock RB26 propshaft
    GTR diffhead, carrier, halfshaft's

    Brakes -

    296mm R33 25T front brakes

By the time you have worked all that out, it's easier to start with a stock R32 GTR and mod the engine.

you have many posibilities with getting your 450 whp.

one way would be to simply build the bottom end of an RB20 not even over bore its not nessesary. not like .2 litters is gonna make a drastic difference. build the bottom strap on a nice reponsive single like a GT30R or GT35R if you wanna be able to boost it more in the future or even a 60-1 is similar to the GT35R. after that ECU is MANDITORY. AEM EMS all the way and i dont care what anyone says lol its in MY OPINION the best EMS on the market that isnt rediculously over priced (if you shop around you can get a fair deal close to the 1.5k mark) would much rather pay 1.5 and 50$ for a map sensor then have to buy Z32 scrap and reflash the ecu etc etc and always retune. after that id put a good cluth. which ever one you like i would go with a twin. I currently am using the super coppermix twin plate from nismo which is gold...get yourself a good exhaust system a good intake some 500-600cc injectors then go in for a good tune and you should have no problems hitting that 450 whp with lots of room to add more. then you can be hardcore and order a R.I.P.S RB30 and slap on an RB26 head and just pretty much have unlimited power goals (within reason of course lol) wont even cost you that much especially now that our money is kinda owning AUD and NZD you can probably pick the block up with the adaptor and pump of your choice for like 7k shipped CAD then all you gotta buy is your turbo manifold, head etc etc either way you have many choices and my best advice would be stay away from using MAF...get MAP sensor makes things just overall much better and not restricted and avoids problems. well those all sound like good ideas.. but im really deadset on this RB24 idea... im not a fan of big singles.. i like the twins.. which is one of the reasons i want to use the rb26 head. and I know it will be cheaper to just get a good stock GTR and slap on some mods.. thats not what i want to do.

I guess makes it bit harder.

It might be a good idea to buy a crashed donor GTR and swap the interior, drivetrain, etc over to GTS chassis. Then totally replace the bottomend with the upgraded RB24 bottomend. Then need a front brake upgrade from R33 25T or R34 GTT (hub, caliper, rotor, etc).

Most rwd Skylines run best with around 400hp at engine. Anymore is like wheelspin through the gears, unless you have semislick tyres or slick tyres on the rear.

    It's a cool motor.

    Nissan made a RB24. It's called the RB24S -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine#RB24S

It essentially is a RB20 crank, RB20 conrods, custom 34mm high pistons in a RB25DE block. But it was single overhead cam, carburreted N/A engine.

The RB24S was installed in the 1989 A31 Cefiro GTS-R (known later on as the Maxima outside Japan) that was exported from Japan.

Some own these Cefiro's, but the RB24S engine is very rare -
