    Charcoal canister

Is it really important? The one in my engine bay has both vac ports plugged and the same with the nipple on the throttlebody. Both of the other vac lines from the intake plenum are routed to the BOV. The car seems to have a slight miss at approx 2500-3000 rpm. Just wondering if reconnecting the canister would help with the miss. I have cleaned/soldered my maf, checked coils and plugs, and done other maintenance to the car.

So I went ahead and reconnected my canister and this is what I found; on start up the fuel pump takes a lot longer to prime, roughness at idle has cleared up, engine seems to feel like it has more low to mid range power, and fuel mileage has increased. Not sure of the reason why the previous owner had it disconnected, but the car overall seems to run better. My car is mostly stock except for intake and exhaust.

Carbon Canister can be removed from the system just be sure to plug it with a 1 way filter, air/gases need to escape through those lines but shouldn't enter. The purpose of the carbon canister is to take the fumes from your fuel tank and filter them through the charcoal, after 20 years they stop doing their job and most removed them to free up the space for a catch can.

Read through these other threads because this has been tackled more then once on these forums.
