    Turbo Size?

Looking at this precision turbo.. the PT5557 CEA. I was wondering if anyone is running this turbo or a similar one?

I'm looking for a fast spool. Not huge numbers.. 300-350hp. 13-15psi boost.

With the following options will this be a reasonable turbo?

    -55mm inducer wheel
    -Ported s compressor cover (4" inlet / 2.5" outlet)
    -57mm turbine wheel
    -T3,.63 A/R

Havn't decided if I should go externally wastegated or not.. leaning towards it though.

I'm new to sizing turbos so any advice is welcome! This will be going on my rb20 btw.

Read Marcs build, he got those numbers with the proper support mods/ stock exhaust manifold.

If you ask me you have to consider what you can afford.

Are you topmounting this turbo or stock manifold?

If you go topmount most as plumbed for external wastegates so you will need to get the proper WG

Twin scroll manifold + twin scroll turbo will spool up faster then regular T3 flanged BB turbo/,manifold.

This is my Rb20 with supporting mods/ Topmount T3 manifold / Gt2871r Garret turbo with .63ar
    Supraclean's "Drift Sicle" Project

I list every mod I have and will upate with dyno graph

I made 341hp at 13.5 pounds of boost, this should give you a good Idea of options you have between Marcs and my build.

If you want even more power! Check out M13s build he is rocking a gt3071 garret turbo:

You can find a bit of info on it there but they only test the journal bearing core not the dual ballbearing,
And apparently the turbos dint reach their efficiency range till high boost and don't make much more power or spool faster than a Garret equivalent, but at 30+ psi theyre suppose to phenomenal

I was trying to find a precision turbo similar to that gt2871r. I saw your project forum and went from there, Your build is sick! The PT5557 is a bit larger then the gt28.. how much was your gt28? if you dont mind me asking. when does it start spooling? Those are definitely the numbers I'm looking for. I'd be going with a top mount manifold(probably godspeed), externally waste gate w/ screamer pipe, intake manifold (havn't decided on one yet any suggestions?) and relocate my battery into my trunk.. that should keep me busy enough for the winter haha..

Thanks for the info man, good read. I was kinda interested in precision because of the ported s compressor cover. The prices are fairly reasonable aswell. Are garret turbos cheaper??

My Gt2871r was 1400$ They are not cheap man, Either way you go I would save my money for the topmount. If you want bang for buck do godspeed but prepair to do some custom fabing with screamer pipe. If I did it all over agian I would go with a 6Boost manifold.

Because of my tomei 256 cams I lose a bit of bottom end but by 4000 its boosting hard all the way to 6900 rpm.

Yeah I'm prepared to drop that sorta cash. I don't want to cheap out on the build. If it takes me longer to complete the build.. oh well I wana do it right the first time. Yeah i'll look into that manifold. Does that manifold not require custom fab to accommodate the external waste gate?

after talking with the guy from precision turbos I think I might go garrett.. he likes to only answer half my questions. and was suggesting MONSTER sized turbos.

Well the thing is 6boost already has a solid setup. You can pick if you want external or not. What size WG you want. 38mm,44mm, depends on what boost you run/type of build your gonig for.

They can put on the flange you need/ if you want your manifold ceramic coated for heat.

Garrett always answered all my questions and didnt leaving me guessing, then agian I have never tried a precision turbo.
