    Charcoal canister question... All help appreciated

    Ok so I have been looking around on my car and know for a fact that I need to fix a few things. One of them being to reinstall the charcoal canister so when my car is finished this spring I can not only obey then mto regulations but so I can also pass an emissions test with no problem.

    So the question is on the rb25 there should be a vacuum line that comes up and meets to the canister. I'm sure it's on the exhaust side at the back of the engine right.? And the other one I believe is just ventilation for the gas tank. Anyways if someone has a diagram or a way of explaining this I would be greatly appreciative.

    My car will be running soon and want to hear it run properly!

    Not sure on your setup, but on my rb20 I have one vac line from the throttle body and one vac line from the plenum. Both are different sizes so the connections to the canister are foolproof. Don't know if that helps, but I can snap a pic or two if ya need it.

    I don't have the stock throttle body anymore though I have a q45... Now what d I hook it too? Still the q45?

    I would think it should be the same idea, just in a different spot is all. Worth giving it a try.

    I like to use black split loom wire conduit. It works well for protecting and hiding vac lines, might be an option to kinda help things blend in a little better.

    Need to find the proper holes for everything though, right now I have it blocked off creating a vac leak and I might need to reset the tps to idle a little better

    My Rb20 hasn't had a canister for probabley 3 years. I just followed the lines from the canister to wherever they were hooked to, removed them and put vacuum caps at that location. As for the vent line from the tank, i just extended the rubber portion from the hard line with a small filter on it, long enough to hide in the frame rail.
    The car passed emissions no problem twice since, (once like 2 days after the removal), and nobody said anything about the canister not being there.
    On the plus I solved a slight idle bump....think there was a leak somewhere in there that I conveniently fixed....
    With your custom setup, I think it would be harder, and more detrimental, to try to get it working than to just leave it off.
    In a nutshell.....you don't need it.
