    vg30 turbo tech

ok i'm going to try and clear up these turbo's i know it confuses alot of people, and i dont like so see people scammed, I searched i dont even know anymore how many forums, filtered it all down and figured it all out for myself when i chose the pre 87 turbo...possibly a mistake because of the extra work envolved, oh well it hauls ass now.

I will try to continue to compile this as i have time.

    So here goes.

    Vg30(post 87et/det), rb25, rb20 turbo's:
"All RB and VG30DET (Cima/Leopard) turbo's are T3's and run ceramic turbine wheels.
The Series 2 R33 is the same size as the Series 1 rb25 turbo, only difference being it runs a plastic compressor wheel.
The R34 turbo runs a plastic compressor wheel, ceramic turbine wheel and larger OP6 turbine housing.
The VG30 turbo runs the same metal compressor wheel as the rb20 turbo, ceramic turbine wheel, larger OP6 turbine housing and rb25 compressor cover.
They run all the same compressor cover apart from the RB20det turbo that runs a small piddly compressor cover, small compressor covers are more efficient at high boost levels BUT do not offer as much airflow.

If you want 200rwkw your best bet is the R34 turbo. It is the largest out of all.

The Vg30 turbo flows the same as the R33 Rb25DEt turbo, they make roughly the same peak power BUT the rb25 turbo makes more area under the curve. As a result the rb25 turbo'd rb20det will be quicker."

    Rb25det
note this is a modified rb25 turbo, still using the same housings tho.

Exact sepcs of stock turbo to follow shortly.

    VG30DET

notice the bolt on outlet, from what i can gather there are 2 types, 1 is straight out but bolt on, the other is curved like the rb25.
pictures and specs to follow, looks almost identical to the picture above.

    Vg30et PRE 1987
"Below is your stock T3 turbocharger from a 1984 300ZX Turbo. Notice you can tell it's from an 84 because of the lack of water fittings on the center section (also known as the cartridge). You should already be familiar with the parts of a turbo, so take note of the fact that the exhaust elbow (O2 elbow) that bolts onto the exhaust housing is a unique cast iron part. Also take note of the "proprietary" Nissan 7-bolt design exhaust housing. A few bits of information:

88-89 turbo cars that have the T25 DO NOT use the same exhaust elbow, the exhaust turbine housing is slightly different, and contains the wastegate flapper as part of the turbine housing as opposed to part of the elbow.
If you have a T25 (88-89 300zx turbo) you will need to find a Nissan T3 exhaust housing and O2 elbow off the earlier Z31 turbo cars.
280 ZX Turbo's (S130) use the same T3 as the 300ZX turbo (Z31) did in 84; the turbo is the same, but the exhaust elbow is not. "

The specs for this turbo are .48 compressor, .63 turbine, .60 trim

    Vg30DETT
Uses twin garret t25 turbo's specs i will have to find as with pictures
