Province of quebec adopted a law...

Right under our eyes.

The minister of transports passed this under our eyes, without us knowing. It happened in december, juste before x-mas.

It's in effect as of the 21st of december.

It has been adopted via law 42 article 81, by national assembly, at the same time as other law, concerning the use of cell phones, photo radars in quebec, mandatory winter tires, etc.

The SAAQ now have the authority to BAN or restrict access or use of it's public streets and highways for a particular class or category of cars.

You read right.

I can already imagine them using this against us....! They now have the power to pretty much do what they want...!

Article CSR 633.1

Le ministre peut restreindre ou interdire l'accès aux chemins publics à tout
modèle ou à toute catégorie de véhicule qu'il indique jusqu'à ce que sa
sécurité soit établie.

Le ministre peut, aux mêmes conditions, autoriser la mise en oeuvre de
projets-pilotes visant à expérimenter l'usage de véhicules ou à étudier,
améliorer ou élaborer des règles de circulation ou des normes applicables en
matière d'équipement de sécurité.

Ces projets-pilotes sont établis pour une durée maximale de trois ans ...
et peut être prolonger d'au plus deux ans.

The minister can restrict or deny access to public roadways to all model or all category of vehicle that he chooses until it's safety has been established.

The minister, can under the same conditions, authorise a project or study aimed at experimenting, studying, or elaborating rules or norms in the matter of security equipments.

These projects or studies can be scaled over a period of 3 years, with a maximum extension of 2 years.

Wow. That leaves wide open some pretty sweeping power. Not sure if you could claim it unconstitutional though, so if they ever say"Oh, we're not sure how safe Skylines are. For the next 3 years, up to 5, they are henceforth illegal." I'm not really sure what you could do about it, if I read that correctly.

I think the intent of that law is to keep low-speed electric vehicles and scooters off freeways.

Agreed, although I suppose from that wording could be used for the RHD or foreign market cars, but the real intent was for scooters and golfcarts. "class of car".

I'd be shocked if this had anything to do with our JDM cars.
