Depends on your province, but they most likely won't even know you don't have one. If they somehow pulled you over with reasonable grounds, noticed you don't have a CAT, they might issue a VI requiring you to fix the problem. If you were, which isn't very likely, to be issued a VI, I believe it is at the discretion of the cop if you can drive home of if you are required to tow it home.

In Ontario it's a $360 ticket for tampering/removing any emissions equipment.
Doubt they would tow the car though unless there were other things wrong with it.

i think it would depend on the cop and if he/she deems that your car is too noisy and takes a closer look at your exhaust, and what you were doing at the time as a factor in how closely they look at your car
im in bc and have no cat,i have'nt had a problem of any kind yet
understeer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you

    What province are you in?
Regional cops in Ontario usually call MTO, and they know their stuff and cannot be bullshitted (easily).

Also, if your exhaust doesn't look stock to a cop, all he has to do is give you Improper Muffler (in Ontario at least) which is totally officer's discretion - most cops feel that "anything louder than stock" is illegal, that was the cops argument for my ticket at least... though I'm sure he'd never heard a stock GTR.

how would a cop even be able to tell you dont have a cat?

are they skinny enough to fit under your ride? i highly doubt that...

Since when do you need to be fully under the vehicle to see that?
