Angry MTO trip permit problems =S

    Okay so here's the deal,

    I imported a 92 GTS-T in,
I'm having it shipped to Toronto from Vancouver by Searail and it arrives today, so I thought i would go to the Ministry in my town and get the trip permit so I can go to Toronto and drive it back to my town about 2 hours away from there. Right away when I said I imported the car , she already started to give me HUGE attitude, keeping in mind this is a small town ministry (an obvious mistake of choice lol).

I showed her all of my Import forms, B/L, Export certificate, Bill of Sale. She calls some hotline, and replies back to me saying they are unable to give me the permit without a name of ownership in ENGLISH , seeing as I showed her the Export form with the Japanese name/address. She said that's the proof that they need to make sure its "safe" for Ontario's standards. Then babbled on and she actually said to me , QUOTE! " Well you should just talk to the Japanese government then." SERIOUSLLY!!!?

    Anyways,
What should i do to get my baby home to me??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks!!!

in bc and alberta if you have a bill of sale you have 14 days insurance, just have to have your plate on the car and inform your insurance company that you are driving it for the day once you pick it up........

    this is in bc thoe

Also just an FYI. somewhere in the import guidelines i'm pretty sure it states that you need an APPROVED translation of documents. I agree with you and find it a bit useless, but the lady wasn't totally blowing smoke up your a**.

edit: don't you also need proof of insurance to obtain an Ontario 10 day permit?

Yes, you are right. I need an official translated document. I went to a different licensing office today, and they were much nicer. The girl at the counter really tried to give me the permit, but the people on the phone just wouldn't allow it without the export certificate being 100% English.
So now im messaging some official translators in Ontario i found just browsing google.
If anyone has any recommendations, that would be sweet!

My friend can help you out. If hes willing he will prolly drive up there pick the car up throw his shop plate on drive it to where you need it to be take his plate back and then it will be all good. If your interested in this Im pretty sure hell do this for relatively cheap but there are only two conditions.

    1. By law he is the only one insured on the plate there for you would be riding shot gun. If you dont have a problem with this I can try and make it happen but if you do then dont bother.

    2. You need to have a ownership for the vehicle.

If your interested let me know but you need insurance before you can get a trip permit and to get a trip permit i believe the car has to be safeteyed aswell. Otherwise you might just be stuck with towing it.

Im pretty sure this isnt true, well not in BC.

If you can link me to some ICBC site that give that proves this that would be great, the "Grace" period only aplies to registered cars, A car fresh off the boat has no registration so this wouldnt apply , but i would love to be wrong. thanks'

    Sorry about the OT
