does the DRL have to be in the headlight assembly?

since i have a GTR hood and grill and such, would it be possible to stick some fog lights or something in there and use those as my daytime running lights, or do they have to be within the headlight assembly themselves?

240SX DRLs were fogs (they were on mine at least, 1990).
I wouldn't see anything wrong with that.

This is in Ontario though, not too sure about Alberta.

ya, i noticed. i didnt really want to get into a technical issue if i ever ran into a DOT problem since they just want daytime running lights. i can do it, but they might hassle me in the future since its not within the headlight assembly

Why don't you just wire up your normal driving lights as your DRL. Basically it's just splicing some wires and there is no cosmetic change to your car.

That's how my DRL are set up.

ive tapped into the switch originally, but the problem i had was alot of times i left the car, i accidently left the headlights on cause i got used to the fact that i didnt really have to turn them on or off unless i want to see the dashboard.

Your car doesnt have the "Lights are on" dinger?

for if you leave the switch in the on Position.

i do, but it also has a turbo timer, so technically unless the car is off and i dont use the timer, then i wont hear the dinger

im more concerned about the cops not knowing whats what are complaining that its separate from the headlight assembly itself. if i were driving a probe or something, i wouldnt have this problem, but it seems like alot of cops in edmonton are cracking down on RHD cars and picking at every little thing possible.
