anyone from alberta able to help with insurance?

well, currently i am with TD insurance before they offered me a lower rate AND comp coverage for the skyline. it snowed a few days ago so i cleaned it all up and parked it on the driveway and put my beater back on the road.

i called up TD yesterday to put my car under parking insurance and then this is where it went horribly wrong(for now atleast). they told me that i had to have another car to beat around in which is no problem because i have another car with a different company, then they said something which made me almost sick to my stomach. they told me that based on the car itself and the 'risk' it carry's, they told me i CANNOT remove liability on it. kinda weird because it wont be driven, so its less likely to get stolen or vandalized if its staying at home for the next 4-6 months. what made it even more awkward was that a couple months ago, i talked to a TD rep about parking insurance and they gave me a rate on it. so right now, i am basically stuck waiting for a phone call on monday because the manager wasnt working on the weekends, and because i was given a quote so they are going to solve this problem and hopefully work it in my favor.

honestly, if i was over the age of 25 where my insurance is dirt cheap and im pulling in some good coin, i wouldnt really care about dropping liability. i think my current rate is pretty decent cause im paying just under $150/month for the skyline and im paying $180/month for a 1990 corolla. given the situation i am in where i may have to drop all the coverage and start shopping around, can anyone recommend me a place if i have to come to this decision? i am looking for a place where there wouldnt be an issue parking my car anytime i want, and also offers comp coverage

without having another car insured with TD, they have no proof that you have another car to drive. they will assume you would still be driving the skyline even with the lesser coverage.

even if you fax them the insurance card from your beater, they will still be hesitant to give you the reduced coverage unless you insure the other car with them.

when there is no liability on it, they will not be liable for any damage that i cause as i should not be driving it, so i dont see why i would have a problem just getting comp on it.

Any outstanding loans on it? I could see them no wanting to take off the coverage but if it's your car why should they care?

problem got resolved and my car is officially put onto comp coverage only after trying to cancel my insurance twice during the same conversation. its really a gong show if you ask me, but i am saving over $500/year over any other company.

is it weird that a 96 supra TT only costs $3500 to insure with TD while AMA wanted 12k for the same coverage? i got a major kick out of that cause i was considering buying one soon
