    The Bare Bone Basics.

    Hi guys,

As you can probably tell Im new to the boards. As I said in my intro post, I have recently adopted a more technical interest in the automobile world and as such have decided Id like to bring in a Skyline as a project car.

Now, I have some questions that might seem downright retarded to you guys, and Im sure I could find the answers were I too browse the forums, but please forgive me. Ive had a long day dealing with stupid people at both ICBC and Interior Savings and riv.ca is irreparably impossible to navigate. So please, forgive the following.

The first thing I need to bring up is this: I know Skylines are street legal in Canada, I just dont know which ones. I think Id probably be aiming at an R32 to tool around with, but if I wanted to could I get an R34?

How would street legality issues affect my owning a Skyline in general? From what I can tell thanks to my adventures at the ICBC website, rhd cars arent illegal, but is there any other nonsense I should begin figuring out?

Sorry for the incompetence, once again. Any help/replies are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

are long as its 15 years old its all good..

    so GTR and GTS-T R32's

    and GTS-T R33

they are all legal and there is plenty around..

if you buy one from japan then your going to have to go through the Inspection hoops to get it legal..

However if you buy one thats already here in BC,, then chances are it will already be through those hoops..

I suggest looking on Craigslist, or the Sponsor forum and Buy/Sell here..

PM me any other questions you might have..

    Ah, another kelownian!
The other guys pretty well covered things.
15 years old to the month of manufacture for any vehicle from any country.
    R32 gts/gtr, r33 gts, next year r33 gtr's.
Could always purchase an R34 face-lift kit for the earlier models.

You would need to be able to present de-registration/export papers (no stolen stuff) as well as canada-customs form for anything you would want to be registering for road use here. The details of which dah_hunter knows well, he helped out bringing my R32 through customs.

Registering requires a passed out-of-province inspection.(NOT a federal inspection, as some would claim) This can be a tricky proposition in the Valley here as it appears the local inspections supervisor/director/whatever is on-board with ICBC's anti-RHD BS and so has spread alot of misinformation to most of the local inspection shops.
However they can be dealt with, I've done it twice now.

*shameless plug - I'm selling an R32 in the market forum*
