typical vancouver sun....its a rightest newspaper....
if you want my opinion...
there is an unlikely chance of this happening for us...
this is a similar article like the year's before it...and the year before that one...
there always seems to be some rumor or something that comes out to "scare" everyone...
no doubt this year is to most serious case with quebec...however from what i have heard from inside sources...although ICBC is well aware of this they are not taking it into consideration at this time...and there would have to be a provincial vote on this and would have to wait untill after the election to pass legislation...and this is not a top liberal or any party priority at this time with the economy...
the understanding of the ban in Quebec is for recessional reasons to make people buy domestic cars instead of buying foreign...or so i hear...that is why it is for 180 days or half the year...which is 2 quarters and about the predicted length of a prolonged recession...
what the government and even ICBC is well aware of is that JDM vehicles have become a large part of our roads in the past couple of years...and eliminating that market would hurt several SEVERAL business...
i am sure many local performance shops, importing companies, dealerships, shipping companies all would notice a change...even people back in japan would hurt from it...
i would say thee is a 1/100 chance of anything changing before 2010...a least in the west....that is my assumption...i could be wrong but im very confident...i would be surprised if something did happen

they allowed rhd now they have to deal with it.
It would be very difficult to ban all rhd. We are talking about supreme court of canada decision or legislation, to ban rhd cars. As the article said 78,000 rhd owners would be pissed.
No one cares about domestics, i don't care if their business is suffering. Consumers deserve and have a right to a choice, and my choice is jdm.

Another gimmick to boom GM's economic turnmoil? haha I wouldn't want to drive any GM cars..
Anyone else want to join me in posting comments on the page? Same idea as with the Doug Taylor article(if you can call it that..)
Of course, we are talking about mature, reasonable comments.

man o man does this ever get under my skin
so many things wrong with this article...
lets look at 73,000 vehicles in a 6 yr span... yet the highest per month we 200.. so some how 200 in one month translates into 73000 vehicles...
if you do the math it looks like this
200 x 12 = 2400 x 6 = 14400
so how the hell are we short by over 50,000 vehicles?
by there claim of 73000 vehicles it works out to just over 1000 vehicles per month... and that is logistically impossible

i don't like replacing control arm bushings every 20,000kms and what are GM vehicles known for.... ya
so pretty much they are blaming the recession on RHD imports?
guess they need something to blame other then themselves and their huge amount of debt they have gotten into that has pushed everyone into recession :hit_head: :hit_head: :hit_head:
