need some insight on spelling errors on ticket

so i got a dumb ticket and i kinda was hoping i could get some insight before i talk to the crown prosecuter. since i think i can only talk to him the day before the court dater right?

the officer spells alberta wrong, leaves out the r. clear as day left it out. do i still have to pay the ticket? becuase as far as im concerened i do not live in a province Albeta which should void part of the identification, becuase i shouldnt exist, neither does Albeta

also on my name it is spelt derrick instead of derek but he either left the i out or the c out of my name. in theory there is no way i should have to pay this ticket right? like there is a dot but i had to hold the paper so close to my nose to see it. it is a little beside his "C" but a little over the R. but no definite I you could count the C as the I but then there is still no C. would this also void the ticket?

i think this is the most illiterate person i have ever met in my life, for someone in authority like that to almost goof a whole ticket up

the reason why i ask this on the forum is im only 18 and had one signal light ticket and one speeding 10kms over ticket so i have 4 demerits left and i kinda need to know before the day i go into court so i can apply for a safe driver course.

    thanks in adavance!

Not sure about Alberta but in Ontario the only way a ticket is dropped for errors is if the officer didn't sign it or put his badge number.

Spelling mistakes can be corrected in court as long as it's obvious they were talking about you. If the cop wrote JOHN CANDY and your name is Chris Powell, you might have some grounds for getting the ticket thrown out.

Who knows though, Albeta could be different. :-P

Go to the court house, talk to the justice of the peace. Tell him you don't think it's a proper ticket because of all the stuff spelled wrong. If he throws it out you walk. He does have the power to just fix the spelling and make you pay it though.

Worked for me a few years ago. Got a ticket for a 96 in a 60, spelled my last name wrong by one letter and I got it thrown out.

    What was the ticket for?

drive while engaged in actyivity that could distract others lol. unfortunatly its against the law to shift at 4500 lol.

there were some cars stopped at a red light that turned green so they just started leaving and since i downshifted into second i got up to 60. the cop didnt have his radar gun on so he thought i was doing mach3 or something?

thats what i was scared of owell i will try.

i dunno about Alberta but in in Ontario those are not considered "fatal errors".

only a ticket with a fatal error will get thrown out

misspelling your name or writing Albeta are not typically considered fatal errors

however that sounds like a BS ticket on its own.. so fight it and ask why shifting at 4500 is considered an offence

yeah i was going to say something to him, he was going to give me a street racing ticket.

my buddy got pulled over also and he asked why the hell he is getting a stunting ticket and the cop was talking about arresting him and impounding his car, so i thought i would play it safe since i was confused at first why i even got pulled over even double checked with my passenger that i wasnt speeding.

maybe i am missing something im going to go to the crown prosecuter and ask for the file and see what he saw, cause i didnt do anything illegal im sure :hit newb:
