Is there a DIY on how to wire the AMBER Light so it can act as a signal light ??
Quick IANAE note:
Note: I did a few electronics courses in University, but am by no means a certified electrician. Follow this guide at your own risk. I have pointed out that if you do not properly fuse your power line, you are at risk of things shorting out, which may cause damage to your vehicle. Even if you do properly fuse stuff, you may still cause damage if you hook things up incorrectly.
Another note: leave everything disconnected from power until you've setup your circuit, and have it all connected properly (generally double check it to make sure it's all correct, and then triple check, and then finally hook it up to battery power).
Not sure exactly what you're referring to with your question, but generally you'll want to pull positive power from somewhere (ideally the battery), and fuse it (if you don't fuse it, and it shorts, you will have problems....at the very worst things can catch on fire and you will burn up your car).
I believe signal lights work with a 12V alternating relay. i.e. there are one/two inputs for positive power, and two outputs....it will alternate between the outputs depending on amperage used, I believe. (Uses metal which changes shape based on heat, similar to a circuit breaker, if I remember right).
So, run your fused power into a switch to turn it on or off (this could be a three position switch, if you need a left/off/right pattern...if it has multiple inputs, just run it to all of them, or to the left/right pins...don't have to do off).
Then setup the outputs like so:
- "left" output to a 12V alternating relay, both inputs if it has two.
- "right" output to a 12V alternating relay, both inputs if it has two.
- "off" output - do not hook this up anywhere, tape it off so it doesn't accidently ground out as well (if you ran your power line to it as per above).
On each side left/right the circuits will be identical. You'll have the switched power line as per above, running into the input(s) on the 12V alternating relay (note: the instructions with the relay will explain how to use it better). Then run one of the outputs to the front bulb, then to a ground somewhere, and run the other output to the rear bulb, and then ground it as well.
If you don't run two lights for each side (or for the side which is broken), then they may not blink on and off correctly (I think those 12V alternating relays usually like to have similar amperage loads on each side of the relay).
Depending on what you're running through all of this, you can judge what size the fuse should be, but as per most automotive fuse boxes, as 10A fuse should be safe. You can pick up a fuse holder for that size fuse from Princess Auto for cheap (saw one the other day when I was looking). You may even be able to use a 5A fuse, depending on what resistance the bulbs you're choosing are.
Again, please do not run power lines without fuses!
Hope that helps you think about what you're trying to do...more info could be more useful
My guess though, is that you'd be better off repairing the signal light switch in the steering column (if that's what's broken).

From what I originally understood, is that he wanted to wire up the tail lights (the outermost ones) to work as flashers instead of the small yellow one?
I want to legalise my skyline and found that there's 2 bulb in the corner light. So I would like to have one bulb to act as a turn signal light. And the other to act as a DAY RUNNING LIGHT.

i dont know if that would be legal for DTRL...
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

2 bulbs. One for when you dont press the brakes, and one for when you do.
But wait, are you talking about front or rear!?
"rear corner light" doesn't sound right to me, since it's facing backwards.
"front corner light" is already a turn signal, and clearly not amber.
So I'm guessing your talking about rear. But if you want to make one of those bulbs a turn signal, and the other DTRL, which one is going to be left for brake lights!?
EDIT: I can't see that picture at work, and noticed there was one after I posted. Will check at home :P. Maybe it explains more. lol.
Alright so you were talking about the front lights..lol.
One of the bulbs is for the turn signal, and the other is supposed to be for your parking lights (reflectors) which is supposed to light up aswell. If they dont, you could always get a ticket for it, but it's very unlikely (same thing for the rear ones we have to add to pass inspection).
And like Shadao said, very unlikely that would be legal for DTRL. These lights barely light up at all.
I just don't want to get a stupid 155$ ticket for a bulb. So I want one of them to light up at night time. Im buying 3m yellow reflector tape tomorrow.
Is there a way to by-pass the circuit so one bulb will light up at night?
im so confused what your trying to do
in your corner markers there is a big bulb and that is your signal and the other is a side marker and should light up when your lights are on or is this what your trying to do?
