    Insurance contact in Ontario

Ive been calling around like crazy and Ive not found one company or broker that is willing to insure an RHD in Ontario. Can someone hook me up with their agent or broker who will insure the vehicle ?

    first of all,

now that said, the following will insure RHD cars:

    -state farm
    -RBC insurance
    -ING
    -perhaps allstate (somebody verify this)

if you use the search function, you'll find more.

i know for sure that TD and aviva do NOT insure RHD cars.

cooperators if it's going to be a daily driver.

cheaper than anyone else and less bull ****. no inspection/appraisal, modifications allowed, next day insurance.

I responded to your thread over on IVOAC.

And, honestly, the SEARCH is useless on this topic cause it changes daily it seems....so read on..

AVIVA WILL insure them. I'm over there thru LANT on a collector policy.
King Cobra who are you with? Is yours a daily? (Love that GTR by the way, Mike is the man.)

Now if you don't qualify for a collector policy or yours is a daily driver, then it's harder.

Do a MTO re-vin. Kinda like what BC used to do, I didn't even know Ont did it. But yes you can..

I believe Matty does it with all his JDM's, PM him, or maybe him or someone will chime in on it.
It assigns a "class" to your car and the VIN will then work in the companies computers.
May be the easiest way nowadays with whats going on. This insurance thing is getting RETARDED here in Ont.
If I get any more JDMs I'll be doing it.

Its around 500 bux though I think.

    True.

But all JDM's have the short VIN and are RHD, so the re-vin is the way to go NOW IMHO.
Ask me 6 months ago, I wouldn't have said so.

He didn't say if it was a Skyline either, lol.
He asked on IVOAC too, and didn't say over there either

You still have to let them know that its a RHD, thats when they will say "NO".. re-vin or not. denying insurance has to do with RHD not the vin length. correct me if Im wrong.

    Yes, usually.
BUT, the re-vin will assign your car the "rate class" that the insurance companies need, so being RHD it may be a higher class, but they can't deny if its classed as far as I know.
They say no because they don't know HOW to insure RHD/JDM cause the VIN tells them nothing. Some ask for an appraisal, then get scared off cause they don't know the "risk" class.
The NEW VIN will tell them what they need to know like every other car.

I found this quote from lucky_cefiro in another thread:

    /quote
    For ontario Re-vin:

    you need to call
416-252-3441 and speak with Sheila. Ask her for a re-vin application.

Once you have filled out your application, and have paid the $450+gst fee, they will come out to your home to check the car out and begin to build a new vin number for you.

You pay first as they check the car out to see if it stolen or wanted by interpole.

After the inspection has been preformed, you will recieve a new ontario vin number a few weeks later.

this will help in insuring your car here as any insurance company can plop the vin into there system, because of this you will not have to deal with the underwriters(they're the ones who refuse to insure you).

    /quote

    BTW what are you insuring?

Like I said I think it's the best route right now, just my opinion
Let us know what you do, and good luck!
