    Missing dash VIN plate

I don't know if this should be in the OT section as it is not Skyline related, but it's more legalese I think. If it should be moved, by all means.

My neighbour noticed that the dash VIN plate (the one you can see through the windshield) on his '05 F-150 is missing. The spot for it is there, but the plate is missing. The truck wasn't broken into or anything, it honestly looks like it was never there. He asked if it was illegal but I have no idea. I tried going through the HTA but I couldn't find anything. Can he get in trouble for this?

well as long as VIN on his Registration matches the one on the truck i.e on the door jams chassis don't exactly know where else Ford stamps em. As long as the VIN match there shouldn't be any problems. But its interesting how the VIN plate has gone missing.

Thanks for the info. I figured it would be ok, just wanted to make sure. It is really strange how it's missing though. He never even realised it until we were changing his oil and we were right next to where it should be.

    Is he the original owner?

It's usually not as easy as popping rivets to get that off, since you have to take the whole windshield off and such. Its not everybody who would go through that effort for no good reason.
