    Details - Partners

    Hi,

I'm going to Japan in May-June. I'm a Canadian University student just going into my 4th year and have landed a 1 year job with a Japanese tech company.

I'm interested in importing a Skyline and I'd like to synthesize a document that entails everything I will need to know as far as bringing cars back to Canada - both so I can estimate the feasibility of such a scheme, and so I can see if the financials work out.

Can someone direct me to a few reliable sources of information.

    Thanks,

Welcome gaijin, you've come to the right place.

If you'd like to "synthesize" a document all you really need to do is surf through our FAQ sections to read up on all the current regulations req'd by CCRA, shipping fees, importation taxes needed and any other surprises have been discussed before. Its all there, just search and you'll find. Anything else you are welcome to ask us as we've made it into our hobbie to discuss these things ad nauseum.

Good luck..ahh...I remember the carefree days of undergrad...

You'll have a great time in Japan. Hope you're landing in Tokyo or Osaka and not some nowhere place like Ibaraki or Saitama

These are bad places? I'm actually gonna probably fly into Fukuoka, I'm staying in Kagoshima prefecture - a little bit in the country, but the weather will be nice and the beaches will be close

I guess I'll start reading the FAQs and start finding out how to import. I believe shipping containers take 2 cars, so I guess I'll be looking for a partner

    sort of crazy...

Seems strange - why are people paying upwards of 1 million yen for a GT-R when you can get them for as low as 5-600 000 yen in Japan. Do these auction prices include shipping to Canada?

PM me if you're interested in sharing a shipping crate. I will take care of sourcing good GT-R's...

5-600,000 yen ? Only for a real dog... Check current auction prices...

Little bit of supply and demand. 15 year rule coming up in several places.

I was just kidding about Saitama and Ibaraki. My family is in Tokyo so we tend to joke about every other part of Japan outside of kanto region. Kagoshima is a nice place

If you need a partner to split a container, and don't mind doing the searching when you're in Japan, PM me. I'd be interested.
