inspection faciity says no go on typical heim style aftermarket tie rod ends saying they may bind? any actual validity to this?

I don't know about BC, but here in Ontario as long as there is no play in the ball socket or bends/cracks in the rod itself it shouldn't be an issue. If the ball joint on the end is making noise (starting to seize) then I could understand their issue.![]()
Yeah, what I thought.. sigh.

was it because they are aftermarket?
how did the shop know they were aftermarket? did you tell them?
if the tie rods are failing i can understand but if they are in good working order then it makes no sense... when i had my car inspected rear inner tie rods is what failed me... took me about a week to get the parts(thank you Z Tune) and installed and then i was good to go..

Just go to a different shop. I bet the inspector was biased.
My Ctrl button has the 'C' scratched off it.
it's really odd. I usually deal with these guys and they're usually great. But it seems they decided off the get go that the car was a pile. When I got back to the shop he said "you usually bring in nice ones, this one's been ridden hard and put away wet", and the first thing he mentions is the clutch rattling and that he thinks it's the throwout bearing or the pilot, and when I tell him it's a single plate and that I'd had the bellhousing off he changes his tune completely. I love that presumptuous crap.
Also said I need to have a cat (never really bothered them with my other skyline or my alto works) and that the spring for the ebrake button is missing (again, wasn't a problem before)

You guys never read his post right, He's talking about hiem joints not just aftermarket tie rod ends.
Not legal unless approved for highway use.
but even then... the inspection facility would not know if they are approved or not... AND further more they are not checking to see if he has equipment that "may" bind... only if the equipment installed is faulty...
take it to a diff shop
