    Importing question

Hi guys, i got my 1995 r32 gt-r arriving on monday. I looked around the forums and found this.

    British Columbia

    1. Get the proper paper work (Form 1, Bill of Sale, Japan de-registration).
    2. Get a temporary operators permit (TOP) or arrange for towing.
    2. Get a passing vehicle inspection. (VI/ Government approved)
    3. Go to an autoplan agent.
    4. Apply for a re assigned VIN
    5. Wait 72 hours for your new vin.
    6. Be prepared for some asshole to drill two new holes in your car for that re assigned VIN
    7. Go back to your autoplan agent and insure your car.

    However I still got questions:

    1) Where do you get Form 1?

2)On my Bill of Lading it says that the car is arriving ro/ro in New West port. Where is the port? And how do I pick up the car?

    3) Where do i apply for reassigned Vin/

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on your GTR. First thing... 1995 R32 GTR dont exist. R32 production ended in 1994. Probably should check into that.

Form one comes from transport canada. Sounds like your going to broker the car yourself? If so, you will need all the info on the eta of your vessel, original de-registration and your Bill of lading to get you started on anything. I havnt brokered in a car myself since 2007 and even then it was rare cuz Id fill containers with cars and parts and after 2005 i didnt do too many with roro. I recently read some info on this site and some has changed. Ive got a few cars leaving on a roro Feb 16th so I will know the current procedure and then i can give you a straight forward update on what to do after then if you need. Or call up A&A and get them to broker the car for you. I think the cost is an extra $250 but no hassles for you and they may get a priority on the paperwork through the few places that need it so you might get your car a day or so quicker using them.

if your b/l is for new west you prob got a K-Line vessel. I think all K-Line cars go to Fraser Wharves and all NYK went to Annacis Island. Or at least thats how it used to be. Debby Mills is the lady at Fraser Wharves. So your car will be at this location> http://www.fraserwharves.com/

Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it
I know the ship arrives Monday(tomorrow).

I got the bill of lading but don't have the de-registration. What I've got instead is certificate of export? Would that work?

Soo once I got all the eta, de-registration and bill of lading where do I go to?

Using Nyk shipping line. So Annacis island it is. Thanks very much.

PS I'd like to learn how to import a car myself, my dad has already done it once thru a broker. But seeing as my brothers are wanting to import a supra and another gtr and I might want to get a safari; I figured I'd try to learn how to do it myself.

You almost got yourself a container full. Not sure if 4 will fit with a safari. The port teamsters might not build their racking to suite larger vehicles like that. But if they can or if you can find someone who can you can save on freight considerably.

in BC you no longer require a re assigned vin. If the insurance place you try to goto tries to tell you otherwise call them a moron and tell them to learn their own regulations and go somewhere else. ICBC accepts japanese VINs as of quite awhile ago, my last car did not have one and neither does my current GTR, my insurance papers say "VIN: BNR32blahblahblah"
