  • First time doing AutoX

Well, I went out to make a couple of runs at the local autoX race this past weekend. Man, way more fun than straight line racing. Unfortunately the guy taping didn't charge the battery before heading out and the battery kept dying on peoples runs before they finished. I wish someone else had taken a camera as well as I think I had a sweet looking drift at the end of the last lap. Special thanks nonetheless to DanOmyte for taking the video.

Sweet, looks like a lot of fun. How'd you do compared to the other cars just out of curiosity?

I was taking it pretty easy, but the best time was a 2:26 done by an MR2 with a driver who has won many races in Saskatchewan and come very close in some in Alberta.

I ran a best of 2:51 on two runs. I need way more practise though. The next event is in two weeks, can't wait to get back at it.

Wow... nicely done. You're right, that is tight. I wish they'd hold stuff like that on the West Coast once in a while :P Something I might try out.

Yep, and I did a 2:48 with my stock S12. Ouch. You've got to push it harder next time Niall.

And you're right, it IS extremely tight. The course is actually a shifter kart track that has been modified to allow vehicles to fit on it. A few corners have been widened, and a longer straightaway added, but it's still maybe 1.5 cars width in some points. It takes a very skilled driver to stay on course. Lots of guys were doing 360's and ending up backwards in the gravel because they pushed it too hard.
