  • big deep trouble.

i was hoping someone could shed some light on this.

i got busted for street racing... or so they called it. it was 3am and i was trying to figure out my missfire problem. long story short i went about 170 and i guess the girls that flew by me while i was slowing down were racing me. i dont know were the heck the came from and i dont feel as though i should get a street racing ticket, is there a way i can get out of this? i started slowing down and got clocked doing 155kms and they had bigger problems since they were going way faster than me, i have no idea were the heck they came from.
what realy sucks is the first time i step over the line i get caught, i have never driven that fast on a public highway in any car.

but the due date is december 12 and i got my license last dec7. can i get a trial date pushed and get my full license and get 14 demerits, i already have 1 signal light ticket and 1 speeding ticket for 15kms. so it seems i may lose my license.

im just mad i got nailed for street racing since i wasnt even racing them, i had no idea anyone was ehind me lol.

    Crappy luck.

This is an even bigger deal for a gl. I'd find the best traffic ticket defense I could find and put my money there rather than into insurance when I got my license back.

The other thing to keep in mind when you're trying to solve this is that jobs requiring operation of company vehicle will be hard to get for at least three years.

I'll save the preaching as it sounds like you've already know you've screwed up.

Well, it really doesn't matter what they charge you with, as you are pretty much f$cked as a new driver anyways.

You were clocked at 45km/h OVER a highway's limit of 110km/h........30km/h over is EXCESIVE Speeding and a 6 Demerit charge (providing you were on the highway that is....)

What was the speed limit where you got clocked doing 155 km/h ?
        ....please don't say an 80km Zone......lol

          Contest the Ticket..

then reshedule the court date whenever you get that..

this will delay the whole thing for awhile..

then when you finaly go to court just plead guilty, explain the whole story and take it like a man..

but if it works like it does here in BC,, it would be over a year before you even have to go to court and then another month when you request a different cate again..

          so you will have time.

just sucks that the first time you do it on a public road you get busted.
and i had no idea the car was even racing me for awhile i didnt realy see anyone then what happens when im slowing down...

i think i can take the defensive drivers course since ill be 2 demerits short and defensive drivers gives you 3

              ......
You are completely missing the point. THey can charge you with MORE than just racing:
              - Excesive Speeding
              - Dangerous Driving
              - Undue Care and attention
              - Street Racing
              - ....and more maybe.

It's NOT just Racing, so don't look at it that way. You will NEED a Lawyer and address teh COMPLETE situation.

155km/h is more the problem......trust me.

                Common come clean now...
                You said you had:
1 Signal Light ticket: as in beating the red light?
                1 Speeding ticket
                1 (Pending) street racing ticket..

What I do not understand is in Alberta they have bigger roads.
It is TOO DUMB to say you did not see the car behind you specially at night!!?!?!?

Common you drive a skyline we all know what other road users think when they see one.
I myself had an incident where one guy wants to race me..
What he does not know is behind me on my right was an undercover cop..
So I looked at the guy, pretending I was going to race him, when green light goes, I just waited and drive at posted speed, and watch the cop pulled him over.

Kids these days, they think they have bigger MOJO just because they can ******* drive a straight line.

You will need the BEST lawyer to get you out of this mess!

I am sorry for your punishment, but it sounds to me like you are guilty as charge. (see driving record)

                  Right.....and ONE more thing;

If you were driving a Skyline or other RHD.....

                  THANKS !

If no one else is gonna say it, I will.......
Thanks for helping to become another statistic that puts the rest of us in danger of RHD Vehicle Laws and proposed Vehicle bans etc......

If you were in a family car - who cares......lol

                    I have learn my lesson..
take every and all tickets to Court.. doesnt matter how small and petty..

                    Just do it..

If they didnt take your license and/or car on the spot then this doesnt sound as bad as it would seem.

i think the signal light ticket would have been in referance to the signal lights on his car otherwise he would have said traffic light... but im not sure since im not a dumb 18yr old any more

and since this wasnt your first time speeding, you cant say it was your first time doing such a thing on a public road...

my advice is to go to court, plead guilty and surrender your lisence for 6months or longer, maybe after you have goten sick of public transit and taxi cabs, you will have regained an appreciation for vehicles and accept that it truly is a privalege....

150kmh 200kmh or 10kmh a vehicle is dangerous and should be respected...

RHD or not, import or not, if you continue to drive like this it will catch up with you one way or another, be thankful that the law caught you and not a tree or light post...

as for making us look bad... im tired of hearing these blanket statements... it is his age that he is representing, not the RHD and import community... while it does look bad to us, to the vast majority of the population it just looks like another punk kid who shouldnt be driving
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Meh, 3am, open highway away from town, no oncoming traffic, as far as I'm concerned you were doing it right (even if you were racin'). That's about as safe as it gets outside of a closed environment. You got busted though, and that sucks. Take DahHunters advice and tie it up in the system for a while. If the cop didn't bust both cars it's kind of hard to prove street racing if you truly weren't. At worst you'll get the ticket for 155 in a 110 and get to drive for another year before you get you licence taken away. Believe me, I don't know any true car guy who hasn't lost his licence at least once.

Define "true car guy". I've never lost my license, I'm a true car guy, but then again, you don't know me !

The majority of the "true car people" I know have never lost their license...

To the OP: Your story is complete BOGUS...I'm 17, I've heard all kinds of excuses from my buddys who got nabbed for racing or something, which is why, like I say every time, I'm only one of the few my age who takes his car to heart and realizes that driving is a privilege not a right. My record is squeaky-clean. I paid for my car, I modify it myself, saved up for it since I was little and I'd hate to not be able to enjoy it (via driving) or lose it in an accident. It's really, really easy to decline a race, you just have to think and say "no", I've done it many times. There's no logic in racing on the street, there's no excuse, you just weren't thinking. Like Shadao said, lose your license and hopefully it'll teach you to settle down and respect a vehicle. I'm SICK of being a victim of age profiling, I have the image of "reckless teen" being superimposed on me just because I'm a young guy with a modified car. I find it comical how people my age who do the racing always complain about "being harassed by police, being pulled over for nothing"...yet do nothing to help the problem by street racing. I wonder WHY :hit_head:. /end rant

So "true car guy" is now synonymous with "aggressive/careless driver"?

                              Trying to rationalize are we?
