  • Gtr 32 Starter

    Hey Guys, Noob here

Where is the starter on the gtr32? accessible from the top or bottom? Difficult to reach? Long Job?

Is it possible to rebuild it yourself? Is it difficult? Where can i find a brush that resembles a gtr's starter?

    Thanks in advance

its on the drivers side of the engine, right under the plenum and against the firewall. Two 14mm bolts hold it on to the bellhousing.

To get at it lower the transmission cross member slowly and let the engine rest on the firewall. You will then have 4 extra inches to get your arm in there.

1/4 or 3/8 ratchet with a standard 14mm socket will be all you need for the two bolts. don't forget the wires as well.

no idea, i just take my alternators and starters to a local shop, they have no issues rebuilding them.

that top bolt is a pain in the ass.

Starter rebuilds are generally not a DIY. I did the one on my (really old) ford pickup because I could get the parts and nothing was pressed together. But I am willing to bet it's going to be easier and inexpensive to bring it to a starter shop. Expect to pay between $40 and $100 depending on how nice they are.
