  • Fabled R33 GTR in Ontario

Some of you may have seen these pics before, but its an R33 with yellow Ontario Dealer plates. Anyone have info on this car and what the hell its doing here?

...my guess is that its either one of those Skylines brought in temporaily for a car show and then shipped out, or its illegal.

My friend has told me many times that there is a Red R33 GTR in storage here next to his dad's car. I'm going to go take a look with him one day and take pics

There are only a few things I can say in regards to this:

      1) We should look on the net to see who initially posted these images - the person who shot it knows where it is.

      2) A friend of mine spotted it on the Allen just around Yorkdale going North Bound - so it is in the "west end".

      3) Dealer plates - see, that is one way of getting it into Canada - very risky, but possible. *note my post about insurance*.

      4) This guy should be shot - hell, I'm gonna find him and literally kick his ass - so JZ, you might have to find another mod while I'm in jail or the hospital. This moron is the type of person who #1 rices things of this nature and #2 gives governments incentive to increase laws, importation or traffic!

      5) If he joins this forum - I will personally put my boot up his @$$!!!

      Cheers,
      KaOz.

I believe it was posted first on Automotive Forums?

I know that car..... thats one that has come into the US though Motorex.

I thought I recognized it . I know it from the front lip and the Nismo sticker on the rear.

Can't remember specifically where it went...... but I remember that exact car.

The XS Engineering license plate frame..... 97 and up Xenon headlights...

Now I remember more . I came in from England. At Motorex after the legalization we put a Power FC , intake , exhaust , etc on the car.

Hence the XS Engineering license plate frame. I don't know where it went from there.

Kaoz, your are probably not the only one thinking the same thing. The members in the skyline forum off Fresh Alloy do the same thing when a sketchy vehicles shows up, usually on ebay or companies claiming to be able to import and register skylines.
There is an EVO VIII running around Winnipeg apparently that somehow is legally registered.

I hope in the long run that the importation laws remain as they are and the number of grey area registered cars are minimal.

A little checking to verify the validity of the R33 is for sure a must. Hopefully all is on the up and up. Other than that, very nice car, can't wait until 2010 and those become legal!

Mirage: Thank you for supporting me and understanding my point of view. Although I am a big joker, I do get hissy-pissy when someone ruins things for others (hence, my reaction to this R33).

There have been many rumours from the RIV/Canadian Government Branches that the 15 year law might change to 20 or even 25 years now that they see an interest growing in the importation of vehicles. This is something that seriously scares me... governments and the power to change what they want, when they want (mind you, this is a broad statement, so please don't take it literally).

tyndago: So I guess it's fair enough to say that "IT IS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL"?... eh? You and your Skylines are like me and my Models... *hush hush*. heh.

I am wondering if you know who purchased it or how it got into Canada? Any ideas?

                      ---

                      Cheers,
                      KaOz.

I have NEVER heard this before. Where are you getting this from.

Thinking about this car more . I remember more.

The owner was a stock broker in New York . The car got legalized and sat a while , as he didnt want it sent over in winter.

So its got sent to the east coast. Very possible it could be up in Canada.

Regarding my post about the possible change in legalization rule/date...

I got this info *which are just rumours circulating ...nothing concrete* from ImportConcern, JNS-Auto, and various other brokers including a friend who deals in automotive importation (but of a different kinda).

I have not only gotten emails from such importers, but have also discussed some reasons as to why this might be the case.

Also, according to the RIV, this may be a possibility - well, then again, I don't believe any gov't rep - for obvious reasons.

                            Cheers,
                            KaOz.

There's a few of those circulating around Vancouver, but I believe one has actually been imported and registered as a legal vehicle by a salesman at one of the local mitsubishi dealerships. Not sure exactly how that happened.
