  • Turbo origin?

Okay, well I went to go replace the turbo on my car...found out that it's not actually a stock RB20 turbo, its some Mitsubishi Oil cooled turbo. There aren't any coolant lines, just oil lines.

So I was wondering if anyone knew of any Mitsubishi tubros that bolt on to the Rb20 manifold?

I have these numbers that were on the turbo

    619178-54700 7C06

    49178-05060
    97051/3005

if anyone knows any thing about those numbers, or to find out which turbo it actually is, this wuold be a great help to me...thanks.

Greedy TD04 or TD05 bolt on turbo kit. They use Mitsubishi turbo's. I had a old Greedy catalogue (when they sold the turbo kits) with the different turbo's available in bolt on and Greedy turbo's that fit on Greedy exhaust manifold.

You can fit stock Mitsubishi turbo from a stock Mitsubishi EVO on RB20DET, but I think the exhaust manifold flange is different, so needs an adaptor plate.

Hmm, so basically my manifold is not an Rb20 manifold?

It's a stock exhaust manifold if turbo is in stock position. My mates R32 GTS-T RB20DET had a Greedy turbo that fits on stock exhaust manifold and had stock dump pipe, Greedy BOV, etc. He said it was a TD04 turbo. But the power his car was producing suggested it was a big TDO4 turbo or small TD05 turbo. There is more than one TDO4 or TD05 turbo option that has different A/R's, etc.

Greedy had a top mount exhaust manifold for turbo's like TD06.

i shoulda kept my TD05H 16G turbo i had kicking around, i was kinda thinking about sticking it on but if i remember right the flange was definatley not a T3 flange for sure, also i think the dump pipe flange was way different, it would be easiest to take a picture, or if you can see an adapter flange on the manifold.

but the turbo looked kinda small compared to the stock so i didnt even bother.

alright well by fluke tonight we ended up taking my friends turbo off his laser (TDO5) which is one of the stock turbos, where did you get the serial numbers from?

but they are a T25 exhaust flange (not sure if all of them are like that) and have a t25 compressor housing (again not sure if this is the same for all). ill remember to grab the numbers off it tommorow night and see if they are the same.

the stock turbo is made by Mitsubishi...

but do they not usually say nissan and the #V#? also he said there is no coolant lines just oil lines.

i do not see a mitsubishi logo anywere on my turbo.
