  • Gold Wing Motors...

Hi guys, thought I'd share my experience I had with this shop today..
So to start it, my buddy and I were looking for a supra for him to buy. We went to right drive, which is where I bought my R33 from, and got a relatively reasonable quote for around 20Gs which is what clean 2jz supras usually go for, but we all want to find that sick deal so we went on craigslist and found this supra for 14gs. It was a 93 with unknown mileage.. So we went to see it yesterday.. We get to the place and it looks suuper ghetto and noone is there(12:00pm). So I go on calling the guy and after trying to reach him for like 5 mins, on the 5th attempt he finally picks up the phone and tells me he'll be there in 5 min. He shows up after 15 min and tells me the car is not there and he has to go get it from a storage which is only he allowed to get in to. So basically we cant go there to see it and he has to bring to the shop. So we end up waiting for another 15 mins just so he can come back and tell me he couldn't get it out because there were like 6 cars parked behind him. So I tell him I'll come back tomorrow.
So today, after school my buddy and I go back there, end up waiting for the car again and it finally shows up. So I look at it, seems ok from outside.. pop the hood, looks pretty clean.. no oil leaks or anything like that... Then I get into the car and grab the shifter.. That F***ing thing moves all over the place.. like you could literally feel how F***ed up it is and needs to be fixed. So I get out of the car and tell the guy there is a problem with the tranny and it needs to be serviced.. The guy just bursts laughing at me and telling me that he's a mechanic himself and there is nothing wrong with the car and its just a bolt that needs to be tightened and that's it. When I said I was a mechanic as well, him and the guy who works for him started laughing even harder and telling me I have no idea what I'm talking about..
As soon as I saw that sh*t, my buddy and I hopped back into my skyline and got the f**k outta there... I dunno how the hell this guy does business with people, but I'm definitely not going back there even if its the last shop on the planet!!!

Yeah, i guess in this case it is you get what you pay for. Right Drive is a bit more expensive than other sources, but I've never heard of any horror stories or unhappy come-backs, and they are all really nice guys too.

Yea right drive are amazing, but like I said we all want to find that super deal sometimes... It's not even the reason why I told you guys the story, it's the way he treated us pissed me off. Was exceptionally disrespectful, that's all.

goldwing is the scum of jdm dealers as they make tiger look like saints.

all their cars are R grade cars with shady mileage.

they've had the same 6-8 cars for almost 3 years now which says alot.

im surprised that they're still in business

Take it from me long term deal is a lot difference than short term deal. I bought my car the same price as someone else did but his was modded and mine was stock. Sounds like a deal eh, GTR front end, coils, wheels, intercooler and minor **** for the same price as a bone stock GTS-T. That car was in the shop that month 3 times while mine has been going 20000kms problem free. That car was also sold within months.

Settle it in the beginning by paying more for a good shop and avoid hassle and long term loss. You may not get the jitty I got a deal feeling but chances are when you need it problems wont arise.

Hence my car is completely stock but will not sell for less than 8500. Imported with 39000km just rolled over 60000 with basically nothing but oil changes over a 2.5yr span.

            P.S Holy **** I have owned a skyline for a long time.

I actually almost bought my GTR from Goldwing last year. I was in the market and saw a gunmetal GTR on their lot. I went in the next day and asked to look at the car and what they were asking. Car looked good. Low km, no rust, new tires...and they were asking $12995. Not bad. So I went home to think it over an do some more research. While I was searching around on autotrader I come across a gumetal GTR for sale at Goldwing for....$10995. I call in and ask if the car is still there (giving the benefit of the doubt). I go back the next day to check it out and its the exact same car!!! Ok, so now I just saved myself $2000. lol I gave the car another look and finalized the pricing. I told him I would be back on Monday (as they were closed on Sunday) for a test drive and if that was good I would leave the deposit. Soooo, I got stuck at work on Monday and couldn't get there so I had to go in the next day and guess what....there was a couple in the office that were leaving a deposit at that very moment!!! Needless to say I was a little upset at losing the car. The best part is, I check autotrader when I got home to see what else was available and there was a gunmetal GTR for sale at Goldwing for $14995!!!! lol so the people that were buying it when I got there where being gouged for an extra $4000. All things considered this worked out for the best. About 3 weeks ago I picked up my R32 GTR from Rightdrive and I'm loving every minute of it!!!!

So to summerize.....Goldwing sux!! lol :P

I bought my car from tiger... I was looking at it for 3 months before I bought it. Tiger treated me very well. But like anything it's hit and miss... I hit on my car... The whole thing was stock. Even my deck and airbox. So far since December the car has 7,000KM on it with no complaints. The only thing I need to do is my timing belt and water pump.

All I'm saying is this, when you buy from right drive, along with the car you are also buying peace of mind!!!! I have not bought anything from them YET, but I was thinking of buying a car a few years ago and some hard times came along so I backed out. From talking to them over the phone and seeing some of their cars, I guarantee that when time comes I will be buying from them!
Their customer relations should become an example of how succesfull bussinesses are built!
