The Dominator chase vehicle was coated with LINE-X XS-650, the ultimate weather protective coating. With storms creating winds surpassing 200 mph, the LINE-X XS-650 protective coatings defends against the extreme weather conditions and greatly minimizes dents, scratches and impact damage from high-speed flying debris.
this is so cool

old methods?
vinyl or matte finish? or do you mean scratch compound wax and buff?
i just think its got an aggressive look
if anyone is a mythbusters fan ... remember the golf ball dimpled taurus?
the dimples actually reduced drag
wonder if it has the same affect with line-x
not to mention the truck they blew up with rhino liner
for grocery store lots, rally and track i think this stuff might serve a purpose
but i mean stripped bottom top inside and out and spray everything
like mylar wrapper lol
im going to price it out and see
im going to have it mostly stripped when brought in so ill hopefully save some $ there
mythbusters vs line-x
During the 60 minute episode, LINE-X products were featured in three real-world scenarios, "Bedliner vs. Attack Dog", "Bedliner vs. Car Crash" and "Bedliner vs. Explosion", all suggested by fans of the LINE-X brand on the "MythBusters" website. In the first trial,
LINE-X was sprayed onto a quilted jacket. After curing, it was then worn in a simulated attack by a professionally trained police dog. The dog instantly attacked the arm of the LINE-X coated jacket; however, his sharp canine teeth were unable to pierce the strong LINE-X Protective Coatings, even with repeated attempts to latch on. The dog then attacked the unprotected leg of the attack suit and was able to quickly pull the "MythBuster" to the ground. With this astonishing result, LINE-X was confirmed to withstand even the most violent and targeted attacks by an animal.
The second trial was a simulated car accident, and it is important to note that although LINE-X is well-known to protect truck beds from exposure to harsh chemicals, impact and extreme use, it has never been recommended as accident prevention protection. With one half of a crash-test car sprayed with LINE-X from front to back fender, the other half of the car remained unsprayed and unprotected. At low speeds, the LINE-X half of the vehicle did suffer fewer bumps, scratches and dents than the unprotected side. However, at high speeds, both sides of the vehicle were badly damaged in a collision. With these results, this myth was labeled as "busted", yet LINE-X was proven successful in minimizing contact damage and minor abrasions as result of the low speed impact.
The third and most exciting trial was exposing LINE-X to a controlled C-4 explosion, measuring both the durability of wood and cement block walls when sprayed with LINE-X Protective Coatings. In order to best compare the experiments' results, each blast had a control measure – two identical, yet unprotected wood and cement block walls – in which the LINE-X coated walls were to be compared. Once the dust from the explosions settled, the unprotected wood wall literally crumbed, the LINE-X coated wall stood tall, with only scorch marks to show for the major explosion. In the second set of explosions, the unprotected cement wall also suffered catastrophic damage, and again, the LINE-X coated wall completely withstood impact and suffered only a few spots of discoloration due to the blast.
With endless applications for automotive, residential, light industrial, commercial and military projects, LINE-X Protective Coatings is the best way to defend against the harshest elements and most extreme environments. "MythBusters" airs on the Discovery Channel network. "Like" LINE-X on Facebook and follow LINE-X on Twitter for more information about unique product applications and other exciting LINE-X news.

i doubt it would be huge difference weight wise but deffinetly heavier then paint lol
open mouth insert foot
found this on a truck site
"I'm a LINE-X dealer.
LINE-X weighs .7 pounds per square foot at 1/8" thickness. Trucks are sprayed up to 1/4" on the bed and up to 1/8" on the sides."
so for an 8ft truck bed 50-60 lbs
i would assume 1/8" or less over interior exterior bottom and engine bay
could add up to 400lbs ?
i dunno im guessing
anyone wanna take a stab at the (interior exterior bottom side and engine bay) surface area?
and 1/8" seems thick. i mean underside engine bay i could see 1/8
exterior you could probably go 1/16" on interior/exterior to save weight
on the plus side its like newer dampening materialLast edited by M-type; 12-21-2011, 06:43 PM.

Well there's a reason ferrari uses a razor thin paint coat on their Competizione cars, you can actually see the weave of CF under it. Weight is weight.
Now I need to see that mythbusters ep!
Edit: But I'd totally do it on a DD carLast edited by MarusGTR; 12-21-2011, 06:57 PM.1992 BNR32 SKYLINE GTR

so from what i can find
Exterior dimensions: (LxWxH): 4545mm x 1755mm x 1340mm
Interior dimensions: (LxWxH): 1805mm x 1400mm x 1090mm
Wheelbase: 2615mm
Ground clearance: 135mm
so from rough estimates ive concluded
top and bottom are about 8m sq (16m)
side are about 5 m sq (10m)
interior 2.5m just floor so (5m)
and 4m in engine bay(4m)
may be 2.5m trunk(2.5m)
so 37.7 m sq or 116.25 sq ft or about 81 lbs of material
bu this is rough esitmate

Marine/Naval Applications: Boat hulls and decks, marine ramps, cargo holds, sea water and list-control tanks.
Manufacturing: Tanks, pumps, mixers, walkways, gratings, vents, ladders, floors and walls.
Red Line-X Coated Sides, Front & Hitch Agricultural: Farm machinery, silos, feed containers, storage tanks, fertilizer handling equipment.
Food Processing: Walk-in freezers and refrigerators, work tables, wet stations, floors and walls.
Sound Systems: Speaker boxes, concert equipment, sound studios, amplifiers and PA systems.
Blue Coated Wooden Letters Outdoor: Playground, park and golf course equipment, pond linings, dog runs, kennels.
General Construction: Retaining walls, roofs, masonry, foundations.
Mining/Petroleum Industry: Pipelines, platforms, storage areas, dump trucks.
Construction: decks, foundations, retaining walls, floors, roofs.
