    Track Day in Victoria

Today I had my first full-on track day. It was a race driver training at Western Speed Way held by the Victoria Motorsports Club. Very different experience than AutoX. You get too really haul ass. Letting the car unreel toward the wall was a little un-nerving at first but I got the hang of it.

Being on a track with other cars was very interesting. There was no passing except at designated spots and the driver ahead had to pull off to let you pass. It was fun running people down though, forcing them to get blue flagged.:-D I had a few tuning gremlins at 5000rpm, so I got blue flagged once for a 911 Carrera, but it didn't happen again.

Really got to push the brakes hard as well. The Project Mu rotors and pads did a fantastic job. No fade or loss of pedal feel and they got a serious work out. That with my Endless Brakelines, I believe I was the only one other than the 911 that didn't experience fade. A young fellow in a Mustang SVT had total loss of pedal, over cooked the hairpin and was stopped by a large bank of mud. He suffered no damage a water hose couldn't fix.

One other guy in a Focus broke a tie rod in the rear and a gentlemen in a 350Z suffered loss of nerve and retired himself, which was odd because he was so timid in his driving he was getting lapped by 2 stock Ford Focus and a Corolla GT-S. No stomach for speed I guess.

I highly recommend driver training for anyone who wants to drive fast. The instructors at VMSC were very good.

This is the full calender for VMSC autox. You will see that driver training is offered again Aug.11. I think I will do it again.

Make sure your brake pads have lots of meat on them. If you need new ones, spend extra for good ones. Make sure your front suspension linkage is all in good shape and change your oil the day before.

It cost $125. 2 days. First day was classroom and second was track. They set up 3 different track configurations for us to run.

Glad you had some fun on the track. For sure it's different than auto-x as you can really unleach the beast in your car.

I'm also going to have a drivers course april 22nd-23rd I really can't wait

I just hope I can get my twin plate clutch by then and have it instaled

That is awesome that you didn't experience fade!

I did this driver training 4 years ago or so and had a blast. Very hard on the brakes. Worth every penny for the track time alone.

I know what you mean. I have a bunch of suspension parts on the way. I have an autox test & tune session this weekend and its abit of a bummer I won't have them.
