    Helmets

I'm in the market for a helmet as I'll be racing early next year (in Japan) and need one.

I've been looking at the Arai helmets, they seem to be good. What brands are you guys using, and what is legal in Ontario, I don't want to buy a helmet here in Japan and find out I can't use it in Ontario. I would assume motorcycle helmets are fine?

    I'm liking this one:

Depending on the racing you are doing, they may require a Snell over just a DOT.

Find a helmet that is approved by both systems and you will be fine.

The helmet i posted above complies with Snell, do Snell compliant helmets generally comply with DOT?

Snell is multi impact, Dot is single impact. Generally real racing bodies(from my experience) require a Snell helmet.

You can use em in rallies, don't see why you can use them anywhere else.

For compliance with most motorsport bodies (involving cars) you are best to get a Snell Foundation approved helmet with an SA2005 rating. The "SA" refers to special applications as opposed to an "M" rating for motorcycle use.

I prefer the open face style for rally use since it is cooler to wear, less heavy and inside a closed cockpit car with roll cage I think it is perfectly adequate.
