    Opinions Please.

Okay, as many of you might know... the reason I bought a GTR in the first place was to use it for wheel-to-wheel closed wheel racing (Challenge Cup/ Touring GT) and/or lapping (Solo1).

Well I found out rather quickly that the PIP Schedule in use for classification in SOLO1 would have had me sitting in the 3rd highest class, competing against cars that were more prepared than mine, and drivers that were more experienced.

Well that sorta ruined my plans for using the GTR for Solo1 (at least until I was more experienced.)

    That left wheel-to-wheel racing.
Now, take two GTRs, stock, same driver skill, same driver weight, etc... Now give "Driver One" $20,000 and give "Driver Two" $50,000. Who do you think will do better? Clearly the person who has more money to spend.

So that kinda crushed my hopes of wheel-to-wheel seeing as my budget is pretty conservative by wheel-to-wheel standards.

Now, since I bought the car to race, and I won't be racing it; I have some options.

    i) Sell the GTR, and start doing open wheel racing
ii) Sell the GTR, buy something more "solo1 friendly" and then get a GTR later down the road when I gain some experience.
iii) Keep the GTR and daily drive it.
iv) Keep the GTR, pull the engine, and build it. And buy some "lesser" vehicle to drive daily.

    I'm torn.

I'm LEANING towards the open wheel stuff.. I have been looking into F1200 and FV, and I think it would be a blast.. I know I didn't get started young enough to actually PROGRESS to anything NEAR a pro-level series.. but I think it would still be a blast. Also, the F1200 approach is somewhat of a fixed budget deal... the cars cost a certain amount, and there isn't really much that you can do with $100,000 than you can with $15,000.

    Please give your opinions.

Also keep in mind, I can always buy another GTR

EDIT: Made it a poll, also try to look at it from a motorsport perspective.

IMHO, screw the CASC Regional racing and Solo 1 scene. Been there done that, too much politics, kids with lots of $$$ and not much bang for the dollars spent. Buy yourself a trailer and tow vehicle, take the GT-R out of daily use, put a cage in it, add some handling and a few go fast goodies and go run track days and events like the One Lap of America and the Targa Newfoundland. I'm also kind of thinking that endurance racing might be a good use for the GT-R. It doesn't matter what class they put you in after a few hours of track time.

Ezzie's plan is good, as always - or -

    1) sell GT-R
    2) build VIP car for daily driver (Y32 Glorias legal next year, very cool, and cheap)
    3) go open-wheel racing

I would be picking up a 240Z for a daily driver. ops:

I think you should at least go out a few times in the car first. Run around on a few lapping days, and a couple time trials. I race in solo2 every weekend and solo1 somethings, and I never come first. Im just doing it for the experience untill I can afford to build a dedicated race car.

I would love to get into open wheel racing myself, but, by the time you by the car, trailer, something to pull the trailer, entry fees, etc etc, im stuck racing my daily drivers :P for now

Ezzie has a point and CASC solo1 can have its down points. But for me I just go out so I can push my car and myself. The rules schedules will never be completely fair when more than 1 car is allowed. (neon is classed with the type R intergra...hmmmm) Just do it for fun. everyone can use some more seat time
If you still have complete control of your car you are not going fast enough!

^^ I have to agree. Any time behind the wheel is good experience time. And sell the GTR!?! I don't know about you, but I shopped long and hard before I bought mine. I wouldn't be so inclined to just sell her off! I would just run the local events/track days, and not dump too much into the GTR. Start a dedicated "racing savings account" until you're ready to dump a large amount into her.
