    More Opinions Please

I am torn between which form of racing to start doing in the next season.

I want to either build the GTR as I need to (right now all I need would be cooling related parts, tires, hicas lock, and a sump baffle kit) because there is no point in building a car to the max when I'll end up being the limiting factor, so I'll build it accordingly. My other option is to build/buy a F1600 car and start competing in open wheel events.

Closed wheel would probably see me in Touring GT or Challenge Cup (after a while) but I don't think I would progress any more than that, maybe an SCCA sanctioned event or something. Open wheel I would be competing in the F1600 Championship after getting acquainted with driving an open wheel car.

Cost wise, closed wheel would be a more expensive build-up, but I would be able to add my own personal touches whereas open-wheel is considerably more fixed in cost than building a closed wheel car, and less expensive to begin with.

All in all... I'm totally lost... does anyone have any experience in open wheel and can shed some light on the situation? I think I'm going to wait until the next lapping day, rent an F1600 car from a shop, and tow it with my GTR... drive them both and see which I have more fun doing. I know they will be completely different experiences... but I'll have to find some way to judge each.

    Opinions PLEASE. ops:

Someone who sells the cars shouldn't really think they are gay should they?

Icy has your account been jacked or something?

I'm sure f1600 are a lot of fun...
but GTR's are gay... If there's a car that's not gay it's certainly a GTR

Okay, I have basically decided on going open-wheel if I plan on doing ANY form of motorsport...

I might keep a skyline for daily use, but who knows... time will tell.

I'll put a GTR Badge on the open wheel car, no worries guys.

If you want to really learn the "art" of competitive driving - open wheel is the way to go. I suggest you take one of the schools that use open wheel cars for instruction/training purposes. You also have a better platform from which to compare yourself to others to determine how your doing and what you need to continue to work on.

Closed wheel is more of an "enthusiasts" environment where most people have specific marques they predominantly play with. Some of the drivers are very good, but they are typically the guys that have a lot of seat time in a specific car.
