assuming both can be heavily (or at least equitably) moded, which chassis would be better for dragging? I've heard the R32 has more flex than the R33, which wouldn't be good

Well seeing as you are limited by the 15yr rule unless you want to jump through hoops to get one over under a race-exemption... I'm gonna say 32.
Even if it has more flex, you can fix that through various different methods. It's also lighter than the 33.

ya, I'm not talking about importing one next week, I'm talking about like 5 years from now when I get out of the pen (or grad school as it's commonly called)

You'd want an R33. Stiffened chassis (you should check out how much a stock R32 chassis flexes compared to an R33), better drivetrain, more "intelligent" ATESSA, newer engine, and better balance.
That said I'm talking GTR's here, as building a GTSt for dragging is like taking a shetland pony to a steeple chase.
The main disadvantage of an R33 is its bulk, but if you're serious about drag racing, the first thing you do is lighten the car anyways, so that won't be an issue. Most of the top quarter mile skylines in australia are R33's (maybe because they're so common and cheap).
But then again, in 5 years time who knows if Skylines will be popular with the kids of today?
^^ plus the R33 is my favourite looking chassis of all time![]()
funkymonkey, have you ever heard of anyone putting a VH45 in an R33 (GTR or GTS-t) and turboing it? I know one person on skylinesdownunder who put a VH45 into an R33 GTS-t and got some really good numbers just going with well tuned N/A...he also made some money on the swap because he sold the RB25 to a drifter

yeah dunno about the beached whale look of an R33, but while it may look like a mid 90's family sedan, it makes up for in build quality and technology.
R33 GTS's are the donor cars for V8 swaps here, and since most aussies love their V8's there's a few of guys who have done it. A couple of them have completed their project, but most are just ones guys do in their spare time. Don't think anyone's actually turbo'd them. I know there's supercharger kits available for em, but the costs are pretty high.
The best example I can give you is 94SKY, or NA_R33 as he goes on SAU (Skylines Australia... not to be mistaken with SDU, that'd be like calling GTRCanada... i dunno... NWN).

that's his build up thread. Its a nitrous fitted VH45DE R33 GTS.

You can buy a R33 for about 12k nowadays so more and more guys are doing wierd **** with em![]()
How much do GTRs run on average? (R33)
Race. Win. Live.
Just rechecked the unofficial drag record list and fark me, the R32's have moved in. Must be because of all the 15 year olds coming into the country cheap for guys to build up.

Keir Wilson's 32's still king though.
I'd heard about the superchargers for the Q45...is it true they run for $10,000 US??
that's a nice GTS-t, btw...it's got the speed and the looks (unlike the one I saw on SDU which looked like ass, and by 'ass' I mean stock)

That one's a GTS25... non turbo (GTS being the 2.0L SOHC model). Turbo's are GTS25t's.
I don't know much about the V8 superchargers, check on www.nicoclub.com, the US infinity guys might have a better idea.
