Project Mu; Quality rotor?

Considering I can get a set of SCR rotor for 436$ x2 front. I was wondering if it was a quality rotor that will hold up at the track but be durable on the street ?

Also, is it worth to pay 350$ more to go 2-pieces? I saw on the nismo website saying 2 pieces rotor are not good because they are weak and may crack where the connection is made. Oh and it can also rust..

I am not sure what model I have, but my car runs Project mu 2-piece rotors. Aluminum hats with cast iron rotors. The benefit of them is lighter weight, combined with better cooling. Because the Aluminum can disperse the heat faster it helps to suck it out of the interior of the rotor. They were on the car when I bought it, but after 3 track days and many Km's of street driving they still work great, with no rust, and are in perfect looking condition.

I think drilled rotors are more at risk of cracking. I have slotted only, that is all I have ever used on the track and have never had problems with cracking.

Cross drilled rotors can have small holes in rotor that get clogged with brake dust that makes rotor overheat, crack near holes. Some cross drilled rotors have bigger holes. I think Porsche cross drilled brake rotors do.

My mate runs the Project MU 2 piece rotors on his GTR racecar. Only thing you have to watch out for is the paint can chip off (usual wear and tear from stones flicking up, etc), but that's all I've seen that goes wrong with them.

Also the 2 piece rotors are cheaper than single piece rotor when replacing the rotor part on 2 piece rotor.

The Project MU 2 piece rotors have a bigger vent down middle of rotor to remove air in middle of rotor. And being 2 piece, less heat is transfered to hat, so less chance of warping rotor. But rotor temps should be kept down to acceptable levels via removing stock stone sheilds behind rotors, using brake ducting.

first of all, what will the usage of those rotors?
street driving only? 1 or 2 track day per year ? or ~10 track day per year?

I don't really see why it would matter? Mainly street I guess. Once, I will be richier, I will def. invest in track lesson,helmet,harness and such.

But anyway, why would it matter? Your going to tell me if i'm only street driving, I should stick with AMS? Well, I've learn over some past bad experience. do it once. do it right.

The brembo ones that come from the factory are more than adequate for road use cause yor not going to speed right ? be a good little RHD owner

factory is nissan OEM.. I'm pretty sure brembo will cost me about the same as project MU but won't look as nice :P

if you are only going to drive the car on the street, you don't need high end pricey rotors
oem rotors are 130 each from nissan, and will be perfectly adequate for your setup

if you want the bling, you can always paint them
or better yet, get AMS's 2-piece R32 GTR rotors for 400$, from canada

there is absolutely no reason for you to buy PMU rotors, none

If cost is a consideration then what you do with your car does matter. If you are just streeting your car then OEM rotors are fine. Only reason to go with a 2 piece is for track or bling.

If you don't want to fork out for 2 pce and want to track your car I would be inclined to get a oem sized slot. Project Mu make one and they are pretty good.

I thought it would be cool to have bigger rotor ( 296 vs 324). It would be slightly better than OEM. PMU sell slotted 296 1pc for the same price as the ams 2-pc 324mm. However, with what happened with frank's car last week and the fact that there's very little feedback from the AMS rotor. I would feel more secure to get PMU instead.

Cost is a consideration to the point I'm wondering if it's worth to pay almost 50% more to go 2-pieces. but I don't mind paying 500$ for rotors. I know they will last longer than my brake pads.
