Could it be because maybe they are not bringing it to Canada at all? Or is there confirmed news that the new Skyline GTR will be available to us here?

actually, if you go through the history slideshow you would see they stopped calling it a "SKYLINE" after the 79. After that it starts calling it by the chasis code and just "GTR".

So, I guess the poster before who was complaining that his "GTR" was somehow devalued because it shared the same base name as the GTST's and GTS4's has got his wish. In the eyes of Nissan it has been its own car since the R32.

Which may make a bit of sense, since you could get the R32 GTR until 95, when the R33 GTR came out. Long after the R33 skyline was released.

Either way, I refuse to beleive it is actually a skyline

GTS4's (and GT Four's) and GTR's have all shared the exact same chassis from R32 to R34's, so there's no escaping the fact that GTR's are common skylines.

I think in the old days the GTR was the spearhead of a sports sedan platform, and needed to be seen as one to both promote sales of the lower spec models and to qualify to race in sports sedan tournaments (group A etc) nowadays the race requirements are different, and there's more of a trend towards monocoque platformed sports cars being seen as "supercars".

You'll find a lot of places where skylines are easily accessible (ie not rare) that a lot of people regard skylines as just simple sports cars and not supercars because of the sports sedan background. The new GTR has a good chance of finally becoming a true "supercar" by cutting ties with its not so affluent family members.

Thats some great odd's.... for $100 bucks, 1:750 chance to own a 2008 Nissan GT-R.
