New Series of Top Gear and the R35

If anyone wants to be surprised, don't read any furthur!

But for anyone who is a fan of Top Gear (presumably many, many people on this board) this comes as some pretty cool news.

    From the official site:

    Series 11 countdown: GT-R v Bullet Train

The Nissan GT-R is clearly quite a car.

The kind of car that's built with such obsession that its tyres are filled with nitrogen so they don't suffer excessive pressure change when they get hot.

The kind of car that has an engine hand-built in a hermetically sealed room to ensure absolute precision and cleanliness.

The kind of car that got Jeremy so excited he was prepared to fly all the way to Japan to drive it.

Unfortunately, Richard and James insisted on tagging along too, so the Top Gear office came up with a very special race.

Could Clarkson in his technofest Nissan get from one side of Japan to the other before Hammond and May could do the same trip using public transport?

But not just any public transport. Japanese public transport: the most reliable and, thanks to the famous 186mph Bullet Train, the fastest mass transit network in the world.

As we said, the Nissan GT-R is clearly quite a car. But then, against that sort of adversary, it needs to be.

The new series of Top Gear kicks off at 8pm on Sunday June 22 on BBC Two.

Gotta love their races of epic proportions. I've been excited for the new series to start since the last one ended (Though it's only going to be 6 episodes ) and I can say reading that bit of news about the R35 vs. Bullet Train is making the wait feel just that much longer.

On an unrelated note, In the meantime I've taken a liking to 'Oz and James Big Wine Adventure' for anyone looking for the 'Top Gear of Wine'.

i LOVE top gear. I'm glad to hear that Jezza will finally lose. It sucks he has to lose in a GTR... cuz he will. He's always loved the skyline, he flew out to japan to drive the R32, you can find the episode on youtube.

I frickin LOVE Top Gear. I'm on their list to be in the studio for a filming. I'm hoping for season 13! The wait is soo long...but that would be awesome.

I'm pumped to see this show. I have pretty much every season, and have watched everything at least a few times..

That race should be awesome. I loved all the races...and the Africa race is my fav, followed by the boat, car, train and bike. It was classic to see stig taking the metro - LOL

And there is no way Jezza would loose.

Yeah, it was awkward for me to say the least.

In all seriousness, I can't wait to see the new season. Does anyone know the date it first airs?

June 22nd, which is this Sunday!

Usually you can have the episode the same day it airs on BBC2 here in Canada if you go to a place like Final Gear

I sit down on Sunday nights with my dad and brother and watch them, same day.

I've also got all the episodes sitting on my hard drive... They just re-released a higher quality series 1 pack, which is pretty cool.

97.00% done downloading!! It's sad that it's the only way we can get it in Canada right away...

If we got BBC2 here, I would definitely subscribe to it.

Too bad they're not shooting with HD Cameras like they did with the polar special though.
