silly americans... this is just the BASIC GTR.... vspec and vspec two will trounce the zr1... nice try though guys.
MY favorite part of the video was how they kept repeating: the ZR1 is a handful, and it's hard to launch, requires more steering input, needs a lot of throttle control. BUT when we ran the ZR1 ten times vs the GTR the ZR1 one once and that was the best time of the day! PS: GTR beat the ZR1 nine times out of ten.
I hate the ZR-1/GTR comparison. The two are nowhere near each other in terms of power and price. The Z06 is clearly the vette that should compete with the GTR, but americans only ever talk about the ZR-1.....
Z06 was the original comparison and it lost in every category. Never mind the SpecV, just bump the GTR up to the same Hp as the ZR-1 and the GTR would own the ZR-1 10 out of 10 and twice on Sunday.
This was a terrible video. It was so biased.

Make no mistake, the ZR-1 is a beast. It was one of the few cars that gave my 89 GTR a run for the money at the Monday circuit series I did this year. He could beat me most of the time in the dry, but as soon as traction dropped off a bit there was a different story!
Tires and some suspension tuning + tightening the nut behind the wheel and maybe I can edge him...

And the new 911 Turbo S beats both of them significantly (for more money of course). 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and a 10.8 1/4 mile straight from the factory.
I like how they say they are going to see what is the better car all around on the street and the track, yet they only test it on the track. The GT-R is a better car on the streets hands down, much more comfortable and luxurious.
I wouldn't mind having a new GT-R, but I'm saving for a 911 Turbo. I would take either of them over any Corvette though.![]()
I hate threads like this.
I hate even more when these types of threads are dug up again a year after it was posted.
