  • Best Oil Cooler Location??

Hey guys, I'm trying out one of those mishimoto oil coolers and trying to figure out where is the best spot to mount it. I was thinking between the Inter-cooler and rad but i don't know if that will be enough air flow or not.

    Any suggestions?

Should be enough flow for the oil cooler. I tried infront of fender, but seems it's vulnerable to rock chips and water. I think I drove over a puddle in the middle of a highway last week when it rained a lot and I swear it went up half way up my bumper. That would have knocked the oil cooler out if I had a crappy mounting bracket. Also the front wheels would fling rocks and whatnot into the cooler fins and damage/clog them up pretty quickly.

Also it's too tight of a turn to fit it in the fender well. The driver side would be too sharp of a turn and getting in the way of my charged pipes (front facing plenum), and running it in the passenger side meants another 2-3 feet of hoses, which is extra weight and extra oil, also more cramped feel in the bay.

I have mine tucked infront of the rad, right behind where the GTR grill is. It has no problem cooling oil down there, and is safe from the elements.

ive got one for engine oil mounted under the wheel well, intercooler then power steering cooler in the middle then rad, in the pic you cant see the power steering cooler but its behind the intercooler, the oil cooler needs to be moved slightly to fit the ic piping through, but theyve all made a difference for sure

ya intercooler piping is almost preventing me from putting it off to one side. I like M13's idea so far of putting it near the grill area.

On N1 GTR racecar they mounted oilcooler core on drivers side of infront of radiator.

On drivers side guard is ok, as long as you angle the oilcooler core, don't have it sitting flat, so it picks up crap, etc. Can put a mesh infront off oilcooler core to protect from rocks, etc.
