  • James Cameron Avatar (Thoughts)

So i thought i would post a thread about this..

12 years since his last movie..
Estimated the Most Expensive movie ever Made.

Will it be the first step in the next generation..

Will it flop and make him loose all credibility..

Im going to the 12:01am Showing tonight in Imax 3D..

Avatar will be epic. Apparently, James Cameron funded a ton of this from his own pocket and wont be getting paid for it at all ( or it works out like that )

titanic was huge because it was like twilight for both young and old women.

there's no heartthrob in avatar. no one cares who directed titanic, or at least HE wasn't the reason it was so successful.

I don't think it will be as successful as they've obviously planned.

i think this movie is going to look awesome... but so far from the preveiws there is absolutley nothing that ties the story to me...

i have a feeling that this movie is going to be slightly more successful that starship troopers and thats just because of the CGI

It looks really stupid. You know it's gonna be bad when they placed James Cameran's Avatar in front of the title not after.

I have to go see it since my girlie wants to so I'll chime in later.

                I disagree..

While Titanic was a Chick Flick.. the movie was very well directed..

                Same With Terminator..

James Cameron introduced us to CGI mixed with Live Characters in Terminator 2..
                He pioneered it..

                Titanic was also ground breaking..

For Avatar im not expecting a Titanic/Spiderman/Dark Knight kinda numbers out of it.. but i think it will do well..

(However i will eat my words if i stayed up till 4am for Crap.)

I am by no means saying he's a bad director... Not at all... but they're marketing this movie on the fact that it's "JAMES CAMERON'S AVATAR."

I love his movies, but I don't go see them because HE made them. I don't think that he's even as well-known as the movie-makers that market their name with every movie they make (ie. Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, etc.) enough to do something with this type of marketing.

The movie itself is ambiguous and although it could be a true epic masterpiece altogether, general audiences don't typically look for such things when deciding to go see a movie. People want to know what they're going to expect when they see a movie.

Again, all I'm saying with this is that they're marketing it completely wrong. Without hesitation, I can easily say that James Cameron is a fantastic director and he makes incredible movies overall, and I commend him on taking such a leap with Avatar, but it just seems... out of place... you know? They made it, ok, but they don't seem to know what they're doing with it.

It looks like a decent movie, but I feel it won't do well.... and the previews dont really do justice. Any third party person would just see some blue guys fighting robots... kewl..

                      lol
BUt i dont know what to think...im definately going into the movie giving it the benefit of the doubt. Im hoping it will be awesome.
                      Not sure though...
I dont understand why they avatar people appear to be mapped so simple (from a distance i supposes) with bright and goofy colors.
It makes the movie look world of warcraft or something. Very cartoony.
Well see.. I think im going Friday in Mission at the silver city..

Don't know much about it, movie looks kinda lame TBH. It's already been said, I thought it was WoW the movie in the first 10 seconds of the preview. But that is coming from someone who has no idea about it. Probably won't see it unless the reviews come back really good.

Spending endless amounts of money on making a film seems to be a waste now a days. Paranormal activity is a good example. Spend a couple thousand and make millions.

Haha where they put the title in the trailer shouldn't have anything to do with how good it will be.

Paranormal Activity is a very rare example of that formula working.

I agree with the other comments; I hope it will be good. I usually don't trust reviews too much either.
