My outside temperature gauge in my 91 Skyline isn't working, it just says -30. I'm suspecting the sensor itself is malfunctioning, not the heating/AC unit. Where is it located? Can I test it? Thanks

lol come on give the guy a break... im not sure where the sensor is otherwise i would help you. interestingly enough i have found that my outside temp gauge is accurate within half a degree, i found this compared to professional thermometers. so, when its working it works well.

On your climate control press the AMB button, its not the outside temp its the cabin air temp as the inliet tube is on the stereo surround, the 3 or 4 little slits with that tube attatched, it doesnt affect anything just when you use auto econ when to adjust air flow speed thats about it. Mine is pretty accurate too.

Yeah there is a sensor right infront of the hood latch bar.
I made the mistake of relocating it to infront of the rad (closer) then my temperature kept rising way over after my car had been parked (ie: 34+)
Then I moved it to the very bottom of the bumper lip, helped it abit but still heat soaked.
The solution was to remove it to thevent holes by the intercooler. Temp reads +/- 1 Celsius degree. Kinda cool.
Also, the vent slits in the cabin by the ash tray is for the AC system. it will auto adjust to that temp. It has nothing to do with the AMB sensor/button.

yes the sensor beside the radio is for the automatic climate control. the only thing i can surmise is its the same as some of my other cars in that it measures ambient air in the cabin and adjusts the climate control system accordingly to your specified temperature.

Sensor is on right below your hood latch and under your horn. Will be a small sensor with 2 wires going to it. Likely has been detatched and throwin away just like every Skyline I have ever been in.2009 Mercedes C63 AMG. Daily
