The awesome stance comes with the territory, I have $1100 in footworks in each wheel well. The car is a cornering monster, i layed down lap times a second faster then my brothers evo who's setup by robispec.

Get that car on the ground, set your coilovers again... your doing somthing wrong
why don't you take a step back and READ my post.. stop being ignorant.
I was explaining in terms a beginner would understand, since he didn't understand how to height adjust his coilovers. roll center is the farthest thing from his mind.
-no matter what you argue he can lower his car more without sacrificing performance.

the center of gravity is the same as rollcenter.. i really said that... huh..?
in fact here's my exact quote that I said
""" THE CENTER OF GRAVITY IS THE SAME AS ROLLCENTER, SO DONT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE, JUST LOWER THE CAR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN GO, IT WILL NOT EFFECT THE GEOMETRY OF THE CHASSIS,""
yup that sounds about right to me.

your outa your mind, your just looking for a fight.

how are you not banned yet?

mods? I get banned for calling out a mod and this douche is sitting here practically yelling at everyone that he is right. read his sig for god's sake. obviously he doesn't want to be here.

it's true what they say about New Yorkers...

Jmak, have tried running thicker sidewall tyres on rear??? Sort of like a dragster.

Thick and beefy tires on small wheels make a car look meaaaan. I drive my car on the street, and it's at stock ride height. Stiffer + lower equals less suspension travel, which is exactly what you don't want on a street car. How do you expect to have fun in first and second gear when you have no traction from stiff + low suspension, right? Hell, even my gtst's stock suspension which allows lots of squat and rear grip can't help me in first gear past 4500rpm. I'd go out on a limb and say any off the shelf aftermarket coilover is going to do nothing but hurt your straight line traction, since it seems like all of them are designed to be stupid stiff.

I have no idea where I'm going with this. I suppose I just hate the common belief that "low" or "stiff" = better handling. I'd stick with my stock suspension unless I was going 100% dedicated track car, just because I value suspension travel and straight line grip.

Hell if I was going with a dedicated drag car, I'd still stick with the stock suspension.

Most RX7 guys do^^ if they drag. Makes the rear squat nicely.

He wanted 1/2 a inch to 1 inch extra to close gap between tyre, wheel arch. That could be done with a slightly thicker side wall on rear tyres.

For example of what I mean of slight sidewall thickness difference on a dragcar -

Please explain how do you know the limits of your suspension? or I would assume you're an engineer.

I'm not a engineer, but I do have people that helped me setup my car, who work with suspension everyday (racecars, roadcars, etc).

There is a full on formula to figure out ride height on SAU somewhere. Unless Chris used this, all the stuff coming out of his mouth is purely "IMO" as he says it and that's it.

well thats what I am trying to say. If he can't support his work with evidence he can't argue and say someone is stupid.

here i thought for awhile i was the only one annoyed by his thoughtless posts, rather cocky also.
one you get the rear a little lower the car will sit much better imo, the car looks kinda raked.

Ya just looked at some old posts ^^ poor attitude.
In my experience the people who make well informed posts that don't involve insulting people. In other words, have nothing to prove (Skym is someone who stands out in my mind). Some ego issues in this thread.

@op if your interested read around on sau for suspension posts by sydneykid. I know he posted some information on GTS ride height, I also believe he sets up racecars for a living so he really knows his stuff. If your not interested I'm sure on a street car a little lower wont hurt to much. Pics of the coilovers would really help though.

Would love to see GTR-dad get involved in this thread, not for moderating, pretty sure he knows a lot about suspension theory. And since I haven't finished my big textbook on vehicle dynamics I don't feel comfortable voicing my opinion on the subject. Maybe this thread can be turned into a suspension discussion rather than an e-penis measuring contest.
