  • EGT probe

    I picked up an EGT gauge and I have no idea where to put the probe. I know certain cars have certain places that are proven to work better, but I couldn't find anything on the skyline or RB20. Does it need to be in the manifold? if so which runner is best? I'd love to be able to just put it in my downpipe(have a bung already) but I'd like it to be where it "should" be for best results!

    I did search, but the sites search feature is kinda

    Thanks

    mine is in my de-cat pipe,
    pull the oem probe and replace it with your gauges probe

      I didnt want to screw around with the manifold
      and besides drilling a hole and having metal shavings get sucked into the turbo
      can and might cause problems
      The existing spot on cat seems kinda far temperature is kinda dwindled a bit down there not acurrate
      So I put mine right behind the turbo on the elbow infront of the O2 sensor
      advantages
      * screw up replace elbow
      * metal shavings get blown through exhaust system (not turbo)
      * best heat sport right outta turbo
      * easy to drill hole its right there no taking parts out or getting under car
