  • anyone use or seen Zeitronix?

i stumbled across this company and there stuff looks pretty cool. i was looking into getting rid of the three gauges and putting in a digital screen that you could configure gauges on, and after many days of searching i found this!

    any input?

    Idea looks cool.

Although I'm not sure I would trust that company. Never heard of it, and they website looks like crap.

Cool, did you install it yourself? do you have a picture of it in your car? i like the idea that you can have multiple things like rpm, boost, egt, air/fuel mixture all on one screen and not have to have a bunch of gauges on the pillar and the center console and anywhere else you can find room for them!

Sweet, I'm looking at building a custom system like this running on a computer, with a touch screen in dash, but this is definitely an option for those that want a lot of information or data logging, in a small package.

I have a friend thats been trying to convince me to go for a Carputer but it looks heavy and it's gotta be a huge drain on the battery. I know Greddy has a similar unit to this but with a smaller screen.

i have a zeitronix wideband and i've been happy with it. it also has a narrowband output so you don't have to put your oem narrowband o2 back in, you can just tap into the wire and away you go. really straightforward installation, good instructions, etc. anyone who is mildly mechanically minded can install it.

i was able to get in on a group buy on another forum and was able to save myself a bit of money on the price, but they only ship ups so you get dinged on brokerage fees.

hmmm, maybe a group buy would be a good idea! i emailed them and they said you can hook up any sensor to it as long as its a 0-5 volt sensor signal style.

As far as weight / battery drain are concerned, I've got an M3-ATX PSU which can do 125W max (well, they say 150W peak, but....from what I've read, I doubt that). So the drain is basically max 10 amps on a 12 volt system. Also, bonus with that PSU, it only requires max 5V, so ideally, if the computer starts booting before I start the car, hopefully the computer won't die.....don't know about this yet, we'll see.

Monitor I'm looking at is the Xenarc 702TSV (1000NITS brightness so apparently it's sunlight readable, draws about 8W, and you can run it off one of the 12V lines on the power supply listed above)

Motherboard is the Intel D945GCLF2 w/ Dual Core Atom, loading off an Patriot 64GB Solid State Drive, which is booting super fast in my tests.

So far, it's not really all that heavy (in fact, the case I end up building for it....ideally to fit in 2 DIN units, may end up weighing more than the components, but I am looking at building it out of aluminum to keep the weight down).

I also have the Blazt.biz Consult Cable to pull data from the ECU.

I'm thinking about either a custom built Arduino solution for any additional analog data I want, (as it has a few analog inputs, and I can write some small custom code to send the data to the computer over a usb port) or maybe buying a Fusion Brain.

Now....I don't intend to replace all my gauges with this system, as if it doesn't boot for some reason, I want my car to still be drivable. But I think it'll work quite well as a data logger and in-car entertainment system, and to show some of the information that I don't need all the time. (...and it can give me an audible warning if any of the values go too low or too high).

....and no, this probably won't be done anytime soon
I've been spending a lot of time researching it, and figuring out what to buy to do what I want to do, and waiting for the US dollar to drop so I can save a bit when I buy the remaining components. Plus I still have a lot of custom software to write for it to do what I want it to do.

I use it with wideband/egt/boost. No issues so far. After couple more posts, I'll put some pics up.

Unfortunately that model came out soon after I had everything isntalled on my car. It figures...sigh.

                              Me too!

Visiting friends and Seattle and I just picked up my touchscreen, super excited. It's gorgeous, just have to get it to like the native resolution now (it thinks 800x480 is actually 1024x768 input, and it's giving it a nice black border around everything).

Finally taking a break (we've been super busy) just lounging around their house, so I figured I'd check GTRC for the first time since....a week ago pretty much
