    Annoucement: Fedex Crash in Japan

Just to inform our customers, the crash of a Fedex cargo airplane at Narita Airport in Japan this morning will not affect any of our customer's shipments.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the families of the 2 American pilots who died.

    R.i.p

This is the crash that Daryl is talking about -

The 2 crew were pulled from the wreckage and died later on (confusing initial reports). It was mentioned that they were landing in strong winds. I would think it's severe wind sheer that caused the crash, by the way the plane suddenly moved forward, like a gust of wind came from behind the aircraft.

This is what happens when landing with wind sheer -

Sometimes a lucky escape and sometimes it's fatal.

Yes, that is the crash I'm referring to. There have been extremely strong winds across Japan for the past few days. Unfortunately Narita airport often has extreme wind situations, also resulting in a Northwest flight that bounced so hard that passengers flew from their seats and hit the ceiling last month.

Just for our customer's future information, all of our packages ship out of Chubu International Airport, which is located about 30-40kms from us. Chubu International is more protected as it is in Nagoya Bay and less susceptible to extreme winds and weather changes.
