  • Track Days (Drag & Circuit)

As a suggestion, we should have a *sticky* to provide everyone with the dates for various organized track days. They are a great way to "get it off the streets", meet up with fellow enthusiasts and even let us check each other's rides out. The posts should just provide the basic information: organizing club, location, type of event, date/times and contact info of who to register with.

Mods - what do you think?? Should we sticky something like this??
    1991 Case 580K 2WD Extendahoe (aka "Brutus")
2006 Ford F350 SD PSD Crew DRW (aka "Monster")
    2006 Kubota F2880 60" Mower & 51" Snowblower (aka "Buzz")

Uhhhh I have a website somewhere...
The rally events are all around Toronto... I think the farthest one has already passed and it is held in the boons.

The Solo 1 events are at
TMP (cayuga, if they get their permit)
                Shannonville
                Calabogie
                Mosport
                Dunnville

Have you driven at Dunnville yet? It's really pretty close to St. Catharines (more so then Shannonville), and I'm dying to take my Z to the track.

Yes, I was there twice last fall when sorting the 510 (the Avatar is a pic taken there). It is a great Solo 1 type track, a little too narrow for a multi-car race though. Intended as a driver training school type course - in fact the guy who has built it has some Formula cars he is renting out for training session - info on their web site. They have set up facilities in one of the hangers there so there are good washrooms and hopefully a snack bar/lounge coming this year.

There are a couple of long straights where we saw speeds of close to 180kph followed by some really sharp 90 turns (both left and right. Really a good test of brakes. The other thing I noticed was that the track is very grippy - not much rubber build up yet due to the fresh pavement - but got lots of rubber wear as a result. The runoff areas are a little rough on the bottom of a car in a couple of places but I expect he will be doing some more grading to smooth these out - it was only paved in July.

I highly recommend it as a track day site - a heck of a lot less bumpy than Shannonville and much closer to SWO & GTA people.

I'll be at these events for sure. Only a 20 min drive from me. Maybe I'll compete as well and take you guys on with the Mazda. Well the GST-t's anyway. (Don't worry, a Skyline will replace the Mazda eventually)
