So members that DO race illegally on the streets, that is alright, so long as they don't do it rocking a GTRCanada sticker (for obvious reasons) and as long as they dont blab about it on the forums. Correct?

Or will members who participate in these events be shunned by the rest of you.

I am in no way saying I participate in these events, or that any of you do... I'm just saying that if, hypothetically, someone WAS to race... how would that be looked at by the other members?

It's just like I posted in the Westrn Forum people. These are extremely noticable cars, and only a select few of us actually own them. The last thing we all need is one or two idiots racing around down town or drifting in a mall parking lot for the cops to start tagging Skylines as street racing cars, and making all of our lives that much more difficult :P

yeah we have that problem on our forums too, and since skylines are pretty prolific in australia (with 4 skyline related incidents getting public news air-time in the last two months) and the fact that we are an official Australian Motorsport Racing club, we have to maintain a squeaky clean image.

The police here are cracking down real hard on anyone driving imports (issuing defect notices for mods that dont meet Australian Design and Safety standards).

In the past its mostly been people organising illegal drags, but now all the drift-fanboys are the big perps, organising street drift events and too-gay... sorry... "touge".

It forces all the guys involved with it to communicate via PM, or as in our case go to a different forum (filled with more people with the same maturity levels as them... fast fours forums and hot4's forums come to mind) to organise their events. They aren't missed :P

Putting your car on the track is the best and safest way to get to know it. For someone who's looking into modifing his car, roadtracks are the place to go. After a couple of sessions you'll see what is it that your car needs to go faster, turn and handle better ans so on. We spend much of our springs/summers/falls at tracks with our customers and we have a blast.

We go through this quite often on NWN, and we have the same "No tolerance" approach, it's the only approach you can legally have for a non-pofit organization. What I cannot understand is why people just don't get the fact that by putting a sticker on your car for a car club, you make yourself a representation for that club, and must act accordingly. If the club you wish to be a part of is not supportive of illegal racing, it is the club's choice, and who are you to go off and implicate that club in your illegal activities.

We all work hard to keep these forums running for everyone to enjoy, don't be the bad apple that spoils it all. Do it on your own time.

Though this may seem like a shamless plug, Teckademics (if you've never heard of them, just go to www.teckademics.com) is hosting an event July 9th at Toronto Motorsport Park, As far as I know, there will be drifting, drag racing, a car show and potentially roadcourse racing aswell. This is the same weekend as the Molson Indy, so it's a great opportunity to have a wonderful weekend.

I am planning on attending, and if you've never seen the Molson Indy it's worth the trip alone...

Just a suggestion for those wanting to take it to the track. Details about it can be seen in this thread here: http://www.teckademicseast.com/forum...ead.php?t=5420

Now, onto the topic of street racing, I used to go and watch them here in Calgary, but after being arrested several times in a modified Jeep Wrangler, I got tired of the "scene" and fell out of the car scene all in all because Calgary really has a terrible support system for car enthusiasts, our track is a joke (condition wise), and there are no real track days either. Autocross hasn't taken off here either, neither has parking-lot drift events...

Tekademics are a cool bunch, I didn't know they were planning an event in Toronto. I know them pretty well. 8)

                            Street Racing Talk

Great policy for the site and real life!

Accidents can happen so fast and in an instant lives change. Perhaps "collisions" can never be considered truly to be accidents.

Last summer here in Edmonton a guy in his 50s driving a corvette killed a woman standing at a bus stop while he was racing another corvette. I don't wish that pain on anyone.

The track is where it is at. Now if I could find one that isn't full of modifieds going in circles in the dirt I'd be happy.

cops sitting outside a venue (like a track) waiting to bust ppl are profiling and that is ilegal and wont stand up in court.

your 1000$ tickets go down the drain. Realistically, judges are not stupid...however cops can be. This simple fact that your at the track taking out your fun in a safe environment. SHOWS your motive to obey the law and have fun with in reason.

Judges will see this and cops honestly... need to start doing their freakin jobs and focusing on real crime. DRUGS herioin, cocaine, dealers, murder, rapists etc etc. The system really is crap when you see ppl dealing drugs on your major streets, whores sexing sex openly etc etc... yet you dont see that stopping as the cops have no power over the real crime and they fear it.

Kinda sad but has truth to it.
