an important point you missed would be... bear dung in the car as it wouldnt be picky
and you wouldnt catch me trying to diaper a bear
understeer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you

My wife and I just bought a brand new 2007 Suzuki Escudo Helli Hansen Edition SUV. It has an alarm, but the best part is that if the key remote isn't in the SUV, it won't start. It has a keyless ignition switch as well. Pretty neat! I wonder if a similar system could be fitted to an older car!

          My cars:
          1996 BCNR33 GT-R
          1992 FD3S RX-7 Type-S

Bottom line is if a theif wants the car he is going to get it. There are pro out there that can get through most everything mentioned in this thread in minutes. And going as far as towing the car away. Unless its booted, or slammed on the ground or in a garage there is no guarentee at all...

When it comes to security the answer is layers. The more layers you have, the more time it take for the theif. Which in the long run all of them will save your car. Personally i was sick of having stereos stolen out of my honda. So after putting alot of time and money in many different layers of security, there is still no guarentee they wont break in. Or just go ahead and tow the car to a specific location where they can work on there own pace.

What i would suggest, a decent 2way alarm with a hidden install(somewhere other then under the dash near the stearing column) like behind the guage cluster or in the trunk behind a interior panel. A mercury tilt sensor,(this will tell you if it were being towed - breifily) A battery backup siren...so if pwer is cut from teh battery the backup is set off...also, a kill switch or two, fuel pump, starter etc. well hidden. These can be easily bypassed but you need to find the wires first so if the alarm brain is hidden this helps. And the removabel sterring wheel is a good idea as well.

Foremost, out of sight, out of mind. If the car is not in sight, in a garage. It will not be an issue. I know this is not possible for everyone, but there are options available...For instance....U-store-it places rent garage space sized units for $30-40 amonth. Locking, camera protected. Heated. A great deterent to theifs cause they dont know where it is. Woudl require a daily driver and moght not be worth teh trouble but i guess it depends on how much you love your car

Just a few ideas ive had...
              Kyle.

^^^ very nice ideas, but in my area the car related crimes if any were just kids smashing windows and popping key cylinders for joy rides, drug deals, etc, I just want to detur this away from my car it will be parked at the end of my driveway closest too the garage ( Would like to park inside but god forebid someone move there stuff) then my brother iin front of me and my mom in front of him. So I think Im gonna get the steering wheel and the clutch boot from the floor. Im relocating the radio into the glove box.

I dont have a security system yet and cring at every secong i leave my car, even in the driveway. Though i have bought a removeable steering wheel hub AND hub lock!!! That is ULTIMATE, people sometimes say to me when they see me walking with the steering wheel "holy sh*t bro nobody's stealing your car eh" and i just laugh because there is yet another layer to the story! A hub lock!!!

Also walking around with your steering wheel gets you some SERIOUS attention from the ladies:-D !!!

Anyone wants to know i got the lock from Daryl and it was i believe a mere $150, can't go wrong!

I say use a quick release, alarm and do the fuel cut. This is something you can't go wrong with. You'll have some good chances of your car being there the next day.

There was something cool on here about 6 months ago with mwracing. He was selling units that you could control with your cell phone. It was crazy. And it had a gps system built in so yo knew where the chicle was if it wasn't in your driveway. This is extreme but I guess it all depends on where you are.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

Funny people, you aren't driving expensive cars here, I mean I know most of you spend all your student loan or all your parents savings for your college to get your cars but cmon lol. Something simple like a battery cut out (keyed if you like) or simple fuel cut switch will work fine if you're paranoid that someone will steal your 20 year old hasbeen. By the way, people do steal stuff with tow trucks so unless you put a denver boot too, you're running the chance haah.

....I disagree,,, think of it this way,,, if you were some punk looking to steal a car,,, and on the street was 2010 Escalade, or 1995 Nissan Skyline,,,
... I bet you would take the Skyline..,, I would...
