i dont see why you cant use wax on a black car, i use 3m performance finish

understeer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you

That looks like it was freshly painted. Or is that just the wax doing its thing?

Many will disagree with this but, my best friends dad had his car worked on at Shawn Highland Motorsports in Toronto, very good reputation, and he was told directly that on black cars he chooses to polish the paint then use NuFinish to protect it, instead of wax.

the only thing that will remove scratches or marring is a polish. Im not sure who told you not to use wax on a black car, but that is unbelievably false. Wax is designed for any type of paint finish (single stage or pigment + clearcoat), regardless of colour.

Contrary to what you may think, polishing is what gives you depth, shine and gloss, and the wax is simply the "last touch". If you want perfect paint you need to polish.

I don't own my skyline anymore, but I had the paint to where I wanted it. IF you want to get crazy with it, you can follow my process I here:

There was a lot of time and effortr spent on polishing + finishing, but it was worth it for the results. IF you just want to use off the counter stuff, you can try the meguiars "3 stage" sytem. It's not going to give you amazing results, but for what it is, it does ok.

Waxing a black car improperly (wich is very easy to do) will cause it to haze. Try using a swirl remover or polish, or pay a detailer to do it. Just make sure to get a sealer put on afterwards if it isn't waxed

Honsetly, getting your car 2 step polished/cut is the BEST thing you can do. I was convinced that my paint was dead, and would need to have it painted to make it remotely good looking again. I had it polished last week at an auto spa in Vancouver, and I was in shock. I had no idea that paint was hiding under the swirls, scratches, oxidation and hard water stains.

My suggestion is to have it done professionaly by someone the first time. Then go get yourself an orbital/oscillating polisher and keep it maintained from there. If you get it done, ask them there what the best product they have to keep it well maintained. Usually a low cut polish/wax 2 in1 is the best.

I did, and it was only $13 for a bottle. Usually the stuff with a shitty label is better than the fancy boxes and whatnot. The one I bought is in a plastic container with a sticker on it and it works amaizing.

make sure to keep your car nice and waxed, and wash off any salt you get on it (at least once a week in winter).

3M makes the best polishing compound availble (avalible almost everywhere), almost every body shop uses it., you can do it yourself with a polisher, just make sure to go slow and don't use alot of pressure. You can burn paint pretty quickly, make sure to stay away from ANY edges. Do those by hand
