one of my friends wants to go to the track and race me for 500$ and i need some imput if ill win or not. my car is a gtst, it has intake, downpipe,exhaust,no cat,and splitfires. from what he has showed me his car looks completly stock, no exhaust, stock airbox etc. he tells me hes putting down 385 horse but i dont know if he is lying or not, from what i cant tell its stock turbo aswell.
im also getting 3 car lengths in a quarter mile race, what do you guys think?
will i win?
and were both fairly decent drivers

It depends on how well you track your car.

You'll have him in the straights if thats him your beating by 3 lengths. But, you may have to break earlier than him due to the RWD. He catch up in the corners due to his AWD but once you hit a straight away, you will start leaving him behind.

Whay kind of "friend" tries to get you to put up $500 for a race? If he floated the idea then he's pretty sure he's going to relieve you of your $ - point is he's acting more like a douchebag than a friend. Friends race for bragging rights !
Also, even if you win how much is the new clutch going to run you ?

Here's your answer, you'll loose. How do i know? Cause i've owned my GTST since '06 and i bought GSR earlier this year. If you all you have is the mods you say you have, then he's got you. Especially with 3 car lenghts. The only chance you have would to start lined up together. The Evo has extremely short gears and will have shift long before will, but will absolutely slaughter you off the line. My GSR launched soo good and they weigh like 2,700 soaking wet.
I think your friend is a lying dirtbag for saying he has 385, unless there's mods you didn't see.

Anyways, GSR+low weight+AWD= beating you if you car is simply an intake/exhaust modded gtst.

And seriously... why not just race him for "pink slips" (which happen to be Insurance Slips in Ontario, lol).

His car makes 30 more horsepower and weighs about 100 pounds less, plus he has AWD.

I'd say he'll probably beat you, even giving you 3 lengths. Too bad you can't go to the dragstrip and have someone give you 3 lengths :roll:

If he really wants equal competition (4cyl, turbo, 4wd), then compare to the same car in Nissan's lineup. Basically race a Nissan Pulsar GTi-R rally car (SR20DET)

You just posted some of my favourite cars!! The GTi-R is an amazing hatch. If they weren't so rare and expensive, I think I'd have one right now. The Cosworth is also a classic crazy car. I heart them both...
