If you think your something special since you own a skyline you might want to give your head a check. A guy at work owned a gtr (now stolen) and he acted like King **** . We brought him back down within a week and treat him even worst now. :hit newb: Not for the fact of owning a skyline, just because he ragging on our DD since it they were inferior to his $9G gtr from Montreal.Chris

This might hurt some peoples asses on this forum but the skyline is just a car to me. I didn't read all the history about the car.. I had seen them around town over the years and finally grew a taste for the body lines of the 4 door's and bought one.
Things I hate about skyline owners :
1) People who praise their history and bring it with them everywhere they go.
Things I hate about owning a skyline :
1) Everyone assumes you think your car is fast.
The 4dr's look awsome and thats why I bought it.

dont u just love it when you are at the meets and some of the owners start talking pssh, my car will beat that one or some random car drives by with a louder exhaust and the skyline owner would go pssh, i own that ****...

Ok ok hopefully this makes sense, this is my issue...
People seem to get offended when they talk so high about "der whip" and they bring up my skyline and I simply tell them, "ya what...it's just a car." This seems to anger the lot as there whole penis enlargement speech just failed because I don't think my car is god.
I just get annoyed but all the loud exhausts and civics and yada yada and I usually let them hear it. It's my opinion and my so called "elitism" is nothing to do with my skyline. I just personally laugh at a lot of other cars. A lot of people seem to forget a car is more or less scrap metal.

not that i let everyone know the exact history or anything, half the people i know at school thought that my friend in the other seat got a skyline and she got like 4 or 5 calls one lunch, i never knew you have a skyline! :hit_head:
and it is funny how everyone thinks skylines are faster than anything, then they ask you have you raced your friends silvia yet? you tell them that he beat you and people wont beleive it.
i realy dont think it is the people that own skylines that are the elite ones, i think it is the people that dont own/dont know about comparing cars in general, i know at school people go around how i can beat anything parked in the lot and stuff, it makes me feel real dumb and bad. it makes me look real cocky, maybe it is true but who knows? and who realy cares. and for that reason i think it kinda gives us a bad reputation becuase people think that your just beaking cause you got a skyline. i always tell people it isnt that fast...

yea those new cobalt SS's are scary fast. 260hp? a lot lighter than our cars too. but I'd like to see if they are still on the road 10 years from now. I also wonder how easy it is to tune their engines without completely changing the car and making it disastrously unreliable.Originally posted by krazykoncepts View Postthis is interesting, keep this in mind when you think you cars king of the road

I know it sounds cliche but skylines have soul. 20 years after the R32 was discontinued they are still fairly common on the roads of Japan (which says a lot for a country that taxes you like nuts for having an older car). Driving it feels SOLID. I can't really explain it any other way except that the throttle response, turning response and just driving experience feels... natural. Driving an FD or MKIV does not feel the same way. Other cars feel awkward when I drive them. Though I've never driven a porsche or ferrari.
Sure the SRT4's and RS4's are one hell of a threat on the drag strip (on the track maybe just the RS4). But for that kind of money, we could take our $15k, 20 yo skyline, mod it with all the money we saved, and rape them. Sure they could do similar mods, but then they would be spending MORE.
What it all comes down to is this. Take a late 80's Ferrari, a late 80's porsche and a late 80's skyline. All bone stock. I don't know who comes out the winner, but I do know the race would be close and the skyline owner would have spent a lot less money on his car, and a lot less maintenance in the future. (of course the supra owner would spend a lot less on maintenance but everyone knows he's a douche). Also the skyline owner could drive his kids to school and do his grocery shopping in the middle of the winter during a blizzard. The other guys probably shouldn't.
Honestly for the $10-20k, the 280hp GTR is a bargain. No cars are currently available with the same kind of performance for any less than $30k.
If we can achieve 2 million dollar Bugatti territory for less than a $100,000, then we have something to be proud of.
Of course elitism is gay, but passion is ok. If you really love your car then love it, don't go around bashing others because you are not so sure about your own car.

Its hard to compare an american car that has been driven 10 yrs vs a Japan GTR that has been driving for 10 yrs.
Reasons why
1. 10 yrs of driving in a american car = over 200 kms vs 10 yr jdm? prob 50k
2. Climate conditons, we have harsh winters, and in some areas heat. in Japan, some what moderate people are usualy in the cities not much snow salt etc.
3. You cant compare simply, GTR was top of the line racer from Nissan, colbat SS was more like a nissan pulsar if not less... its a damm family car with a supercharger lol. GTR = Corvette Z06 \
you get my drift

all skyline forums are roughly the same, you just get a broad demographic since you can spend a little bit of cash or a lot and still have a skyline.Originally posted by Terrh View Postif you look critically at alot of the posts on this forum, it's easy to see where the elitism remarks come from.
The worst attribute skyline owners have in general is secrecy. It's nice being on domestic forums, where people share information all the time.

Did my signature didn't contribute to the creation of this thread? I just hope that my cynical signature will make some of the cocky skyline users on this board come off of their throne and back down to reality. I've met quite a few in person, and these type of people come from all kinds of demographics and age. It's almost sad to see a 35 year old skyline owner brag to someone just over half their age. It's sad but has happened before.
I've owned several other cars and attended my share of general car meets. I'd have to say that, other than VW owners, Skyline owners tend to be the most arrogant. In vancouver at least.Legend of the red R

This thread is filled so many different views, it's educational.
Elitism is not achieved buy owning any certain car. Anyone that has $15g can own a Skyline, whether a GTR or GTS. Simply spending money does not make you "elite."
What you do with your car on the other hand is what matters. How you conduct yourself is what matters.
I think it is very obvious after a little observation who can be termed "elite" in any group. Look at GTRC, i think there are maybe 10-20 members that could fall into this catagory.
History is the reason these cars are what they are. It doesn't mean you have to learn everything there is to know. You at least have to recognize the importance. Skylines are well engineered and pack a punch in stock form. They have stood the ultimate test of time and are truly a performance bargain for 90% of owners.Originally posted by mvs2 View PostThings I hate about skyline owners :

I love my car because of the rich history that it has created and i am proud to own it because i can experience what a true sports car of a certain breed feels like. I will share what i know about the car because i want people to know i own it for the right reasons, Not because i think i can get girls, and not because i can find some cars and drag race light to light.
Everyone who owns a skyline has a reason to own one, some just own it for the wrong reason, and they believe they are better because of it.Tџяϊsмø

That pretty much sums up most of the skyline owners I've met.Originally posted by Turismo View Post
