Hey I just got my L and was wondering how long it took some of you to learn to drive RHD, and if getting a skyline for a first car is a good idea or not.
Welcome to GTRC. In a few moments, this thread will be flooded with posts about why you shouldn't get a GTR because you'll make the elitists and fanboy tuners upset. So sit back, relax, and don't take anything posted on here personally. Remember; it's not your fault that you love the car so much.
Go for it and get a Skyline, just my personal opinion would be to get a gts-t first. Again, only my opinion. I had been driving for 2 years already when I got my Gts-t, and I got into enough trouble with it. I can't imagine the stupid stuff I would have done if I got it in HS.

Props for a good post, I agree. But where is the Firestorm? Is it coming?
Anyways, Learning rhd came really easily for me, I have no tactics for making it easier, just do it, and it becomes normal.
Your a lucky man if you can get a gtr or even a gtst for a first car!
Getting your full license in a skyline can be done. I did it.
Have fun.

i didn't have a problem with it, i thought it was a little weird trying to back it out of the shop for the very first time trying to drive it in the dark, pooring rain with blacked out windows lol but on the road i dont even notice that im on the right side
im still havin trouble parking straight on reverse coz of the flare on the qp but skylines (rhd for that matter) r pretty ez to drive... just dont kill urself
haha i was the person who went out and got a GTS T when i was 16 and got my L....
I was stupid, however i tried my best not to do stupid things with the car...just act mature and respect what you have and you'll be ok...
Now i own a GTR after crashing my GTS T, and all i must say is that the GTS T is the way to go first because the GTR is a whole different ball park when it comes to money and performance...
As for RHD...it like driving LHD just on the other side...nothing to it

I don't convince 17 year olds not to buy GTR's because I'm an elitist, I try to convince them not to buy them because when they break they're expensive, and he'll have a nice driveway ornament like so many GTR's I know of.
I think a skyline for a first car is fine, if you're mature and responsible. GTS-T's and the R33 GTS25-T's do have enough power to get you into some trouble real fast, but they aren't horrible in that respect.
My advice would be that once you get your full license and are looking at getting a car, see what kind of a budget you'll have. If you have 6K sitting around and can get a 10K loan to get a GTR, don't do it. If you have 6K sitting around and can wait a few more months and get a few grand scraped up on top to get a GTS-T/GTS25-T, I think that would be a decent decision. And take a friends RHD car for a drive (or find a nice, trusting local owner) to see how it feels. If it feels completely wrong and you're crashing into stuff, don't do it. If it feels great, okay, or like you could easily adjust, go for it.
I just personally feel a GTR is too costly of a car for a 16/17/18 year old.

What if im 18 n for a first car i was looking at a GTR but itll be stock and all im gonna do is a intercooler , is that a good idea ? is it still gonna break frequently?
it will depend on YOU. But averagly it will take 3 month to be relaxed and comfortable on the road, and another 3-4 month to be the same as in LHD car (if you have driven many years in LHD car, but in your case it would be from scratch, so it's good).
Lapping days at the track will accelerate the learning process, but must be taken in CAUTION !!!

Yes. The GTR's stock intercooler is going to cool efficiently for well past 500 WHP. GTR's come stock with that nice, big, shiny front mount that you so desperately want. Just from your general lack of knowledge, I'd say a GTR would be a bad idea. I know about them, I babied mine, and it still blew the **** up.
