Sucks:
From what I know the radio's receiver can be tweaked to get our range of radio.
Also you can see DVD's on the screen can't you?
On the other hand:
Isn't the brain specific to each car model? Thus the stolen item can only be used in Skylines?
I wouldn't lose hope.
Note to all:
Get your shop to store your skyline in the garage at night, take it home each time or find another shop.

I honestly don't know if the radio or DVD player can be modified to play our stuff - I only had the car for a day before I sent it to the shop.Originally posted by SHYUMIDESUGA View PostSucks:

The shop is now going to store the car inside every night - a bit late now, but it's better than nothing.

I dont think the radio can be tweaked to get our signals but you can buy an attachedment that can, Also the dvd player/cd does play north american stuff its all universal when it comes down to it. Alot of companies put protective stuff so in this case you would have to buy another one because it wont play american cd's.Originally posted by SVTong View PostI honestly don't know if the radio or DVD player can be modified to play our stuff - I only had the car for a day before I sent it to the shop.

I hope you find the guys who did it, they might return to the scene to scope out other cars. Dont forget thought people you think you can trust can turn around and stab you in the back. I wouldnt count out your mechanics yet.92,94,95 Honda Civic

The DVD player wouldn't play any of my north american DVDs, only my imported japanese ones. I guess it's a moot point now, though...Originally posted by specialedition View PostI dont think the radio can be tweaked to get our signals but you can buy an attachedment that can, Also the dvd player/cd does play north american stuff its all universal when it comes down to it. I've mentioned to the owner of the shop that he might want to keep an eye on his mechanics, but I don't think anything will come up.

My Carrozzeria played only Japanese DVDs too. So I re-burned all my favourite DVDs and made them region free so that they would work in any DVD player....
and the nav system was useless because it still thought I was in Japan. I drove to BC once and it got confused up in the mountains and some female Japanese voice started giving me directions or told me to slow down or something lol. I liked it.
Below are some pics of my break-in that happened about a month ago while I was at a movie (Benjamin freakin button at sunridge spectrum in Calgary). As for insurance and the police, I didn't even bother. Sometimes I think that those patrolling security guards (the ones in the impalas and cavaliers u see at night) are actually in on the car theft scene. Its a conspiracy!
The thing that sucks the most is that the culprits stole nothing! They gave up on my crappy carrozzeria and just caused a whole lot of damage. (it had like 16 screws holding it in so I don't blame them). I almost rather they had stolen something so that at least somebody would benefit from the carnage. They didn't get anything. Not even radar detector....and ruined my antique deck because now the screen can't open. POINTLESS!
At least the window change was cheap and easy. The interior center console (the big panel around the deck, AC and cluster gauges that takes up part of the footwell) was more of a hassle since it is one big piece and I had to remove parts of the dash to get it out. I ordered a new one from Sunridge Nissan for under $90 (wow?!) Part number 68104-05U00 for a 91 GTR (there are 3 variants/colours for this part (68104N) so u mite want to confirm that number with your VIN on Nissan FAST) Also my AC unit was fukked. These seem quite fragile. Got a used one and just plugged it in. Seems to work better than the old one . The ambient temperature sensor is actually correct now lol. Obviously the thin black plastic trim surrounding the deck snapped in half---just like yours. They are easy to find used and should be less than 70 bux new. I just got a used one with a small crack for free
As for security, ignition cuts and tracers are good to keep your car from getting stolen, but 2-way car alarms with highly sensitive shock sensors (bcuz they can always get in thru the window) and long distance remotes are necessary for the break-ins. I realize you had just gotten the car and could not have prevented your break-in really. Removable decks and steering wheels are the best option I guess but not always possible with the fancier ones.
I have a 2-way alarm but my mechanics (who I will not mention here) fukked it up and had to run a bypass wire because after replacing my blown turbo, they suspected the alarm/starter was the culprit for the car not starting. Turns out they actually squished an O2 sensor under a turbo causing a fuse to short every time. They had an electrician rewire everything and ended up bypassing the alarm and the O2 sensors for some strange reason. I ended up with the electrician's bill too because they suspected I had known about "the problem" before giving it to them....WTF.
Anyways its my fault for taking my car out that one time without an alarm. It just sucks because I had just taken it out of winter storage for ONE movie with the gf.... and it is too late to blame mechanics for what they did last October. My fault for not fixing it all up before winter and just leaving it til the next season.
Im way OT and have been ranting about my own problems I know, but maybe it will make u feel better to know that it happened to me too!
I think most people who have had break-ins will experience similar damage so I'll post some pics that mite be useful.

Man, that sucks - I feel your pain.
My Climate Control has never worked right since the break-in. It blows hot almost all of the time for some reason. I replaced the internal sensor (the old one was torn out when they broke the dash bezel), but it didn't seem to help. I've run the diagnostics and they all come up clear, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
I had a new 2-way alarm/starter installed, so hopefully it will act as a deterrent for the next jackhole that wants to get into my car.

Frist off sorry to see that your car has been damaged.
It seems by the pics that they had more than a few minutes to take your stuff out. In the pics nothing looks cut and I see the back seat has been removed. Either it was someone who has knoweledge of Skylines or knew they had plenty of time to get that stuff out.
I've come to the point where it doesn't matter what you do, if someone wants to steal your car or take parts from it nothing will stop them if they are determined to do it.
As for your insurance, why would they drop you?? It's not your fault, it was in a shop compound & getting OOP done. I would ask them why they are going to drop you as a customer, makes no sense.
Glad to hear Nersan will hook you up with some parts, hope you get it all sorted out.
Ar.........Nothing but Good Times........

Ah ok, so some people are dropping into the thread a bit late here...
My car was broken into a couple of months ago (way back in January) and is now all back together. My insurance is all sorted out, and the car has been on the road for some time.
The thread got revivied a couple of days ago by fiasko, who also had his car broken into, and is also now repaired (as I understand).
